Hybrid funct ions Tips fo r fuel efficient driving

Driving with th e combustion engine: The vehicle is driven using Starting from a stop: Shift into D, remove your foot from the brake only the combustion engine; the high voltage battery is charged as pedal and slowly press down on the accelerato r peda l. needed . Constant driving and gliding (gliding): Accelerate spar ingly, Maximum acceleration (Boost) : The vehicle is driven with both the and completely remove your foot from the accelerator pedal as combustion engine and the elect ric motor. This uses a large amount soon as poss ible. of energy. Energy recovery (Recuperation): Brake ear ly and st eadi ly with short Electric driving : The veh icle is driven solely with electr icity pedal movements . Let the veh icle coast to a stop. depending on the high voltage battery charge level and the amount of dr iving resistance. The combust ion eng ine is turned off .

City driving : Accelerate spar ingly, and brake early and steadily with short pedal movements. Use the ~ but ton spar ingly.

EV mode: Enhanced electric driving. Driving on highways and expressways: Remove your foot from Gliding : When in D and with your foot off the accelerator pedal, the accelerat or pedal t o increase the amount of t ime that you the combust ion eng ine remains turned off up to approximately are coast ing. Reduce speed by removing your foot from the 100 mph (160 km/h) . accelerator pedal instead of braking. Avoid driving at speeds

Energy recovery (Recuperation): Generates energy using t he electr ic motor while simultaneously charg ing the high voltage

battery by brak ing, coasting and/or dr iving downh ill. The combust ion eng ine is turned off. Automatic start for the combustion engine : Occurs, for example, at high vehicle speeds, if the high voltage batte ry charge level is too low, if the A/C system requ ires a high amount of power, if the engine temperature is too low or if more braking power is needed.
