We are excited about your transition into the RHBC Student Ministry!

Middle School is where students really start to figure out how their faith plays into their daily lives. I am excited to be a part of this journey with you and your student. I am looking forward to getting to know you and your student over the next few years.

In the following pages you will get an insight into what our Student Ministry is all about and ways you and your student can get involved.

As always, if you need anything, just ask. I’m glad that you’re here and look forward to serving you and your family.

MergeMerge is a chance for middle school students to connect with others and to deepen their relationship with Christ. We’ll do this in a setting that is both comfortable and fun.

That description also includes the goals for Merge:

1) Connect with others=merge into student ministry 2) Deepen our relationship with Christ=our lives merge into His

We meet every Sunday night at 5:30 p.m. for a light meal, hang out time and video games. We then kick things off at 6:00 p.m. We have a time for announcements, group games and teaching done by Zakk and special guest speakers. Since starting in August 2012, Merge has become a highlight of the Middle School Ministry.

YBF (Youth Bible Fellowship) Grades 7-12

Every Sunday Morning - 9:00 a.m. & 10:15 a.m. for Middle & High School in the Attic.

Our Youth Bible Fellowship classes offer an opportunity for our youth to connect with one another and learn about Scripture. Led by caring adult leaders, our YBF classes are a wonderful environment for students to feel welcomed, connect with the youth ministry, and learn about the Bible.

Promotion Sunday - August 17, 2014August 17 will be your student’s first official Sunday as a member of the Student Ministry.

Whichever hour of YBF your family attends, your student will meet in the Attic for some donuts, juice, and fellowship before YBF starts.

*Before this date, only Wednesday nights and specific events are open to your student.

Note to the Parents

We welcome your PRESENCE. The RHBC Student Ministry maintains an “open door” policy toward parents. You

are welcome to visit one of our programs at any time. We want you to see for yourself what your student is experiencing week to week.

We value your INPUT. Feel free to share your input, concerns, questions, comments, and

observations with our staff. We want to partner with you in any way we can.

We encourage your INVOLVEMENT. We are ALWAYS on the lookout for parents who have a special place in their hearts

for middle school students and are open to joining our volunteer team. Our volunteers help run events, lead Bible studies, organize ministry opportunities, and more. If you

would like to be involved on a regular basis, we’d love to talk to you personally!

We need your STUFF. This doesn’t happen often, but occasionally we need to borrow something

that we simply can’t provide on our own. Sports equipment, mini vans, homes, and the like are items that we may ask you to loan out on occasion to help us in a pinch.

Page 9Page 8

1. Let Zakk Rohrlack know you are interested in helping out with our Middle School Ministry.

2. Fill out a volunteer application and background check form.

3. Register/Pay (half price) for any events you would like to chaperone.

How do I get Involved?

BlogEach week after Merge and following every retreat, I post a recap of the events to serve as a resource to you as a parent. I include an overview of the Scripture we used, any major themes that came up, and I also try to include a couple of follow up questions for you to ask your student.

The blog provides a way for you to stay current in what your student is being exposed to and also provides you with a way of following up.

We also use the blog to talk about other things going on in the student ministry. Make a point to check it every week to stay up to date.
