If you are not prompted upon opening Excel to choose a type of document, or if you’re in a document and would like to open a new template, you may do so by clicking the File menu,

The workbook to the right has
To insert a new column or row, simply right-click the column or row that you want to insert before and choose Insert (i.e., to create a new column between A and B, right-click B then choose Insert).
To delete a column or row, right-click the column or row
To add a sheet to your workbook, click the + tab
To delete a sheet from your workbook, right click the sheet name, and select Delete.
To change the properties of a sheet, right click the sheet’s tab.
You can rename the sheet, copy the sheet, and even give it a unique Tab Color.

To select all cells on a sheet, click the button left of column A and above row 1 (highlighted right).
In the above example, I first clicked the cell A1, then holding down my Shift key, I clicked on C3.
Formatting sheets and cells is made easier by being able to select more than one cell at a time.
To select a group of cells, click the upper-left-most cell you want included in the group. Hold down the Shift key on your keyboard, and click the bottom-right-most cell in the group.
Some formatting options are available on the Home ribbon. These options include Font, Alignment, Number types (above); and cell formatting (right).
You can also access the Format Cells menu by right-clicking a cell and selecting Format Cells.

To merge the cells into one long cell, I select the three cells I want to merge: A1, B1, and C1 (see example left).
Cell merging is a nifty tool that can make a workbook look cool. In the example on the right, I want to give my three columns one single heading, My Lucky Numbers. While the text does spill out of cell A1 into B1, it still does not cover the three columns I want it to.

Charts are a great way to present data, and Excel makes it easy to create charts within your workbook.
First, select the data you would like to appear in the chart (including the headers for your columns and rows).
