Why would you put STEM and global learning together??
From Practical Action’s point of view
It gives us a way of integrating global learning into mainstream subjects that wouldn’t normally teach in this way
…Which will help us inspire more students to care about poverty reduction…and act accordingly
Why would you put STEM and global learning together??
From a teacher’s point of view
•Global issues provide a great context for hands-on inquiry based learning
•Good for SEAL and PLTS
•Reinforces understanding of the subject
•Fits the National Curriculum criteria
•Really engages pupil
‘Excellent resources, very comprehensive and targeted at the right level.’
‘‘..using the resource (Moja island) I received an ‘outstanding’ observation’‘The pages on the 6Rs are brilliant. I have printed them in colour and laminated them. They are on the wall in the workshop for all the students to see. Very inspirational.’

‘The activity is ‘fantastic’, it shows students how they can relate what they learnt to a real life situation. We recently completed a unit on forces but until now they didn’t see how that could be applied’.http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=v5L5Gp849Q0

‘After the event the pupils were really keen to do
more work on this and I felt it lent itself to a
project involving our partner school Malaika
elementary in Zambia.
…I have now got a very keen group of pupils who
are going to look at all things water
related....hopefully presenting their work at
the regional Big Bang in July (east midlands).
