The countdown to spring is on…three days to go! It is so hard to believe
how fast the school year has gone. As I write this, I am reflecting on the 106
report cards that I just read. I am so impressed with the growth of students
and all the activities that classrooms have been accomplishing. I would like
to thank the students for their continued hard work and look forward to
reading about the progress they make in the last stretch! I would also like to
acknowledge all the teachers; the time and diligence they put into each
report card demonstrates how much they care and are passionate about
their students.
The term 2 Student-Led Conferences at LCS are being held this week.
Student-Led conferencing provides students an opportunity to conduct
formal conferences with their parents/guardians. Students display their
schoolwork, discuss their academic and educational goals, as well as the
strategies they will use to meet those goals. This process allows
students/parents/guardians and teachers to be actively involved in each
student’s learning. We look forward to seeing you at the conferences!
This time of year, we also ask all parents/guardians, students and
teachers to answer the “Our School” Tell Them From Me survey. The data
from these surveys help us to understand different views and provides us with
information on how we can work together as a team to provide the best
educational experiences for our students at Lafleche Central School.
Please take some time to complete this survey. Your voice is very important
to us. Please see more information further in this newsletter.
We are already making plans for the next school year. We would like to
remind parents who have a child(ren) eligible for Kindergarten in 2016-17 to
please register before the end of March. Knowing how many students we
have will assist us in making staffing decisions.
In the past few weeks, we had a lot of cold and flu germs spreading
throughout our school. We would like to remind parents/guardians to please
contact the school when their child(ren) will be absent and to please not
send medication of any kind with your child to school. We cannot have
over-the-counter or prescription medication on buses, in desks, lockers,
lunch boxes, etc. Having medicines out in the open poses a threat to all
students. Staff are not allowed to administer any medication without the
proper signed documentation. See the Medication policy in our school
handbook for more information.
Next week we are hosting our annual Seniors’ Tea. Staff and students are
already preparing for this special event. It will be a great celebration to
have just before our Easter/spring break!

SENIOR BADMINTON
We have had a very successful start to our
season. Our bantam team practices every
Monday and Wednesday. I have seen a
great improvement since we began a few
weeks ago. We have worked on the skills
of serving, drop shots and birdie
placement and will be focusing on
smashes next week. Last weekend the
athletes travelled to Mankota for the
Mankota/Kincaid fun tournament. It was a
great weekend. Thank you to these host
schools for running an excellent tourney for
the students. All of our athletes played
very, very well. Congratulations to Brady
and Ashley who made it to the playoffs in
their respective singles pools. Also,
congratulations to the teams of Keegan
and Brady and Tessa and Ashley who
finished fourth place in the boys and girls
doubles competition. Well done to all of
our athletes! You represented LCS very
well. Next week the team will be travelling
to Gravelbourg to play a few fun and
informal games against their team.
