Term 3—Week 7 P & C meet LAST Monday each MONTH, 7.00pm
Thursday, 2nd September 2010
PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
This week:
• Updating school records
• Fathers’ Day
• Playground blitz Updating school records
The NSW DET is currently testing its new student administration database.
In preparation for the migration in 2011 of information currently held electronically by the school, the office staff and I would appreciate you informing us of any changes to your child’s personal information.
Details such as addresses (both street and email), phone numbers, emergency contact details and current Family Law order details may change from time to time and need to be accurate to help us help you.
As you advise us of changes we can update our records so that when data migration occurs we are in the best position regarding information
accuracy. Fathers’ Day
Thank you to the P & C for organising today’s Fathers’ Day stall. I’m sure that all the dads receiving any of the wonderful gifts available today will be just thrilled. I wish all of our school dads a very happy Fathers’ Day and hope you all enjoy your special day.
I want to thank our school dads who have helped out recently – particularly Malcolm Nunn and Doug Beckers. Malcolm and Doug have cooked many
snags over the years and set a great example for other dads to follow when it comes to volunteering. Their help, along with others, ensured our election barbecue was a big success.
At Monday night’s P & C meeting we discussed that we needed some more dads to help out at the Bunnings fundraising barbecue on 2 October and at the school disco on 27 October.
I also want to thank Stephen Ardzejewski who gave us some great advice about making our school safer. He showed us a great way to cover the metal star pickets we use to rope off areas requiring maintenance. Many
thanks Stephen!
Playground Blitz
No—we aren’t having a makeover but we are making an effort. Teachers are having a little blitz on several things that have slackened off lately
including:
• The wearing of hats in the playground
• Litter-free playground
• Safe play
Children have been reminded frequently that if they do not wear hats they are restricted to playing under the COLA.
We have also reminded children to only eat food in the COLA and canteen area. No food to be taken to the grassed playground to keep the school clean and tidy and help our hard-working cleaners do their job.
School playgrounds are not like your backyard at home with 460 children of varying personalities and temperaments who each have differing sets of boundaries for safe play. Rules for safe play at school include keeping your
hands and feet to yourself and to use kind words to others. This way we stay safe, feelings are not hurt and the playground is a fun place to be.
Disregarding any of these rules will result in attendance in planning room
and communication home. Parents, please support school staff by reinforcing these expectations and, when children make poor choices, set a good example by accepting the consequences of rule breaking.
Hope you had a great week at our great school!
