MathMath
The purpose of the first 30 days of math is to intentionally weave the process standards with the other knowledge and skills. This enables students to be successful problem solvers and use mathematics efficiently and effectively in daily life. The operational focus is multiplication and division. The geometric focus is attributes of 2D and 3D shapes. Students will be expected to solve measurement problems involving use of dimensions. Algebraic reasoning is incorporated throughout all disciplines in math.

ScienceScience• Science lessons encompass hands-on
discovery, non-fiction reading, and expository writing. We will discover, critically read, and write to deepen students’ understanding of science.
• Students use a science notebook during class to record labs, respond to videos, and articles. We use the notebooks to display data, charts, and graphs, and conclusions are written in Claim, Evidence, Reasoning (CER) format. Formative grades are taken from your child’s science notebook.
