WELCOME ADÁN FERNÁNDEZ Our New Music Director
Adán Fernández is a life long Angeleno and son of Bolivian and Mexican
parents. He has served at various liturgical settings as organist, worship
leader, and choral director; his aspirations in sacred music have led him to
perform at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in Los Angeles, The
Hour of Power, Biola University, Azusa Pacific University, the Nixon
Library, and as a sponsored performer for the Orange County Chapter of
the American Guild of Organists.

Dear Parishioners,
Please be sure to extend a warm welcome to our new
Director of Music, Adán Fernández. Adán has a dedicated
heart as he carries the baton of excellence from Dr. Christian
Marcoe. We are grateful for our awesome music program, and we are
excited to have you on board, Adán!
You may wonder about the names on the scrolls in the sanctuary area of
the church. These are the names of those who have had their funerals here at Holy
Family in the past twelve months. We pray for them in a special way during this
month of November.
Thanks to those of you who supported our Parish Country Fair! Thanks to
all the sponsors, raffle ticket buyers and attendees. Your attendance and
participation is crucial in enhancing the success of our community. The chief of this
year’s fiesta was Tony Makhoul and he really went the extra mile. Thank you, Tony!
Special gratitude to Chris Alejo and Steve Benedict as well! Thanks to all of the
school parents who worked long hours in set up, running the event and take-down.
Thank you to all of the parish volunteers and ministries who gave so much of
themselves and sacrificed big time. Fortunately, there was a lot of love and
dedication to Holy Family that was expressed and I want to thank you all big time.
This week each of our high school classes at Holy Family High School has
its own annual class retreat. The seniors have a special Kairos retreat. Let us ask
the Holy Spirit to be present in a special way with our high school students and their
faculty and student leaders.
Next weekend we have our annual Life Teen retreat at Camp Mt. Crags in
Calabasas/Malibu. Please pray for our teens, our youth ministers and core team that
they will all have a life changing experience this weekend.
Thanksgiving is around the corner. On Thanksgiving day, we host one of
the most beautiful Masses of the year. It is at 9 AM and it is pretty extraordinary. The
outpouring of support for the needy and hungry is a gift. You are invited to bring non-
perishable food items for the poor. Please keep them with you in the pews. After
communion, we will have you bring up your food items to the front of the altar for a
blessing. Invite your family and friends to this important Mass. We are grateful!!
Our Holy Family High School volleyball team made it to the playoffs for the
first time in years. As of this writing, we are still a contender for the championship.
Our grade school girls’ volleyball team has won its first game in the playoffs as well.
Also, our Grade School was once again voted Best Private School in Glendale. Way
to go, Holy Family!!

A MESSAGE FROM THE DIOCESE OF
SANTA ROSA
The fires in Northern California have hit hard the Diocese
of Santa Rosa. Many parishioners have lost their homes
and/or their businesses. Others lost their jobs because
their places of work were burned down. The Cardinal
Newman High School and Saint Rose Elementary
School have lost significant portions of their buildings.
The fires have impacted the lives of thousands of people
and now the enormous challenge of picking up the
pieces is just beginning.
Bishop Robert Vasa, the Bishop of Santa Rosa, is
grateful for all the prayers offered and asks that you
continue to pray for the people of the Diocese of Santa
Rosa. For those who would like to help financially, the
diocese has set up a webpage where individuals can
make donations. The web address is:
www.srdiocese.org/signofhope.
Please post this information in your bulletins during the
month of November. If you wish to take up a second
collection in the weeks to come that would be very much
appreciated and needed. One suggestion is maybe to
designate the Thanksgiving Day collection to help the
victims of the Santa Rosa Diocese.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
DID YOU KNOW?
Disasters: Is your family
prepared?
Families may become separated
during the chaos of a disaster,
especially when evacuation is required.
It is important to plan for your family’s
safety. Develop and regularly practice
emergency plans at home with all family
members and designate a location
where your family could gather in the
event of separation. For more tips, visit:

EL MÁS GRANDE ENTRE
NOSOTROS
¿A quién admiras? ¿Al
presidente de Estados
Unidos, a una celebridad del
cine o a un excéntrico
millonario?
a quien seguir.
