The abuse/possession of alcohol, drugs and/or steroidsby a team member will automatically result in disciplinary
measures, which might include criminal charges, suspension from school
or expulsion from the team. The well-established harmful effects of smoking

Policy
Good Sportsmanship is viewed by B-CC High School as a commitment to fair play, ethical behavior, and integrity. In perception and practice, sportsmanship is defined by those qualities which are characterized by generosity and genuine concern for others. Individuals, regardless of their role in activities, are expected to be aware of their influence on the behavior of others and model good sportsmanship.

SPORTSMANSHIP Be a FAN … not a FANATIC
* Realize that a ticket is a privilege to observe a contest and support the B-CC Barons.
* Do not verbally harass, taunt, or assault others. Root for your team, not against the opponent.
* Respect the decisions that are made by the contest officials.* Be an exemplary role model by positively supporting all the teams in every manner possible.* Respect other fans, coaches, participants, and officials.* Be a Fan … NOT a Fanatic!

During the 2006 Legislative Session, the Maryland Senate and House of Delegates
passed a joint bill requiring local boards of education to develop an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
Program for high schools. The legislation requires that AEDs be located at each high school facility
and a trained individual be available to use the devices at all high school-sponsored athletic events.
The Governor signed this bill into law and it became effective July 1, 2006.

At Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School, we are committed to providing our students with the opportunity to participate in a high quality athletic program, knowing that their involvement in athletics will be an invaluable asset to their total educational experience.
Keeping in mind that athletes are students first, their academic standing will directly determine their participation in athletics. Thus, achievement in the classroom is an athlete’s first commitment to his/her team.
We recognize that the same hard work and dedication needed to be successful in competition is also required in the classroom. We also understand that balancing the demands and responsibilities needed to be a successful student-athlete is no simple task.
The Student-Athlete Purpose
Team Purchases Student Purchases Only required student purchases will be run through the athletic department’s school IAF account. Required student purchases are defined as items that are required to participate on any athletic team – examples include the football package, baseball hats, swimsuits, team socks, tennis & golf polo shirts.
•If purchases are being run through the school, all money must be collected up front for the purchase
•Checks must be made payable to Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School and must include sales tax and shipping costs.
Buses are available TO ALL TEAMS!There are pros and cons to taking a bus to contests.
Buses can only leave at 1:15pmOR after 4:30pm
consider time away from classes consider the time spent “waiting around” consider athletes who ride to the contest
on the bus must also ride back on the bus
Student drivers can ONLY be used as a LAST RESORT!
