Following are the guidelines for taking an honors class:
◦ Top 20% on CSAP/MAP or another standardized test◦ Middle school teacher recommendation on Infinite
Campus (or letter/statement from teacher at school outside LPS)
◦ Advanced level coursework in 8th grade◦ Note: Chemistry 9 requires a prerequisite
Prerequisite: Completion of Algebra (or equivalent before the 9th grade)
Freshman Honors Courses
1. If you scored 90% or above on MAP test and have taken the prerequisite math course with a passing grade, you will be registered for Honors Geometry.
2. If you scored 80%-90% on the MAP test, the following data will be used to determine registration: CSAP scores, teacher recommendations, and previous math grades.
3. If you scored below an 80%, you may not want to register for Honors Geometry.

This course offers training in effective reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. Students study literature in these skills. They read novels, short stories, poetry, drama, nonfiction, and essays. Students learn reading strategies and examine the elements of literature and literary techniques as the basis for analyzing, interpreting, and evaluation. Students write both expository and creative pieces which emphasize critical thinking, research skills, analysis, originality, and organization as well as editing and proofreading. They are accountable for using appropriate punctuation and grammar, correct spelling, and an expanded vocabulary. Students give informative and persuasive speeches that demonstrate effective organization, critical thinking, and presentation skills. Students learn listening strategies in order to analyze a speaker’s purpose, gain information, and interpret meaning.

Students learn a variety of theatre art skills including acting, improvisation, interpretation, as well as technical theatre. The course is intended as an introduction to the entertainment field as a profession, but focuses on skills learned in theatre that can be applied to any discipline. The course is designed for students with no theatre arts background, as an introduction to high school practices and procedures for students with middle school or outside theatre experience. This course is a prerequisite for most other drama courses.

This course will emphasize physical fitness through various cardiovascular, strength and flexibility activities. Students will gain an understanding of how to attain and maintain lifelong fitness through a combination of aerobic activities. Activities may include step aerobics, kick boxing, taebo, yoga, mat pilates, and circuit training with stability balls, jump ropes, hand held weights, spinning bikes, resistance bands, bosu balls, etc. Students may take cardio combo class for three semesters.

This course is designed to develop skill in personal keyboarding on the computer. Students will develop a touch typing skill with an introduction to the formatting of reports and correspondence. Getting Started
• Log onto the Portal at: https://campus.lps.k12.co.us/campus/portal/littleton.jsp
• Enter your user name (your 5 or 6 digit permanent ID number)
• Enter your password (your birth date in this format: mmddyy, unless you have changed it)
• Click on the Registration link
How do I find the course I want to request?
• There will already be some pre-scheduled courses in the Required Courses box (Lunch, English 9, World Civilizations, Geography, and Physical Science). You cannot delete these courses. If changes need to be made later on, counselors will make these changes.
• You will need to add your math courses as well as your other Core courses and Elective courses for both semesters.
• To do this, click on Course Search
Type the course title in the search box
• You can type a keyword from the course title into the search box and a list of all courses with the keyword in the title will display. Use your Prospector to help you determine which words within the course name to enter as key words.
• It is better to enter only a portion of the course name than the entire title (i.e. Algebra rather than Algebra I or II since the naming might vary slightly between the Prospector and Infinite Campus).
Requesting your courses• Click on the name of the course you
want to request
• When you see the course appear in the center of the window, click the Request this Course button
• Repeat until you have selected all the courses that you want to request. Make sure you request for both 1st & 2nd semester in the order they appear on your registration card
• Now choose at least 2 alternate courses for each elective course you have requested in case your first choice is not available. Do this the same way as before, but instead click the Request an Alternate button to add it to your Alternates list. Input these in order of preference.
What if I make a mistake?
• If you make a mistake and need to drop a Requested or Alternate Course, click on the name of the course.
• The Course will display to the right of the Course list.
• If this is the course request that you want to drop, click the Drop This Request button.
How to print a copy of your Course Requests
• After you have double checked your requests for accuracy, you can print out a copy to verify your requests.
• Click the Print Request Summary Button.
• A Course Request Summary will appear
• Print one copy and keep it with your registration materials.

Finalizing the Process
• Once you have completed the online course request, print a copy of the requests for your records.
• Turn your registration card in by February 22nd – To the Counseling Office at your LPS school– To the Counseling Office at HHS– Mail it to Heritage High School, Counseling
