The Week at a Glance
Thank you to Parker Hinnenkamp and Stephen Carey for accompanying the youth this morn-
ing.
The following publications were sources for our liturgies this morning: Everything I Need to
Know I Learned from Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood by Melissa Wagner, and Love Your Neighbor...A 100

Opening Prayer Andersen Trachsel
*Hymn 300 We Are One in the Spirit THEY’LL KNOW WE ARE CHRISTIANS
Prayer of Confession (unison) Wills Blosser Dear God, “Love your neighbor as yourself” is easy to understand, yet daily we
struggle. Forgive us for the many times we have rejected our neighbors. We have not
prayed to see your image in them. Grant us the ability to see your image in all we meet.
Do not allow us to just keep walking by in an effort to alleviate our own discomfort.
Open our eyes to see those neighbors who the world has cast off as being of no value.
Grant us compassionate hearts and transform our minds so that we seek to understand
the needs of our neighbors and gladly desire to share what we have with them. Guide
us with your Holy Spirit so that we might look carefully at our neighbors in need, feel
compassion and empathy for them, and move into action. Amen (time of silent
confession).
Declaration of Pardon Fletcher Hays Friends, believe the good news of the Gospel.
In Jesus Christ we are forgiven. Thanks be to God!

Prayer Stations for Lent 2020
Prayer Room at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church
Where Have You Seen God? . . .
Make the Lenten journey this year using the ancient Christian practices reformed
for a new day. Spiritual disciplines are a way of living out the faith in an intentional
way in order to be open to seeing God’s movement and claim on our lives in the
every day. We believe this movement flows in and out of Sunday worship.
On Sunday, February 23, 2020 (Transfiguration Sunday), Ash Wednesday, and the
first Sunday in Lent, we will distribute Lenten journals, pens, and a devotional
guide. The guide will lead each one of us through the Scripture reading(s) for the
day and the question to wonder and ponder about and then note in your journal.
When the journals are distributed, supplies will be available for you to decorate
your journal.
Experiential stations will be set up in the Prayer Room beginning on Ash Wednes-
day and continuing through Holy Week. The stations will be simple and you can
take as much time as you wish to linger in the practice or be done quickly without
much time required.
Stations will include but not be limited to:
Baptism and water – exploring the gifts of God. What are we ready to receive from
God?
Ashes and new life – dependence on God’s grace, love, and mercy. What is Jesus
renewing in our lives in the reality of our own mortality and frailty?
Cross and commitment – exploring Jesus’ commitment to us and the world. How
are we willing to bind ourselves to Jesus?
Words of life – God speaks. In the chaos o f our lives, what word is God saying to
us today?
Compass and direction – pulling towards God or away from our true North? What
pulls us from God? What pulls us toward God?
Highlight Poster in the Narthex
Tell your church family how you have seen God and how you see God at work in the life and
work of St. Andrew through sharing on the foamcore poster each week. Share your journal
thoughts on the Highlight Wall.

Call to Worship Andersen Trachsel
God, give us love:
for the love that you give is eternal.
God, give us love:
when all we see is hate.
God, give us love:
when the world seems cold.
God, give us love:
when we see others in need.
God, give us love:
for each other so that we can make a difference.
God, give us love:
love that cares for the stranger.
God, give us love:
love that restores hope in Christ.
Aging with a Plan
11:45am, Room 207/209
Please join us for a light lunch and discussion this Sunday, February 23, for the final session of
our Aging with a Plan series. 11:45am to 1:45pm in Rooms 207/209. You are welcome even if
you couldn't attend prior sessions.) This week, we will discuss dying (the physical aspects),
the difficult choices individuals and families must often make for end-of-life care and, lastly,
funeral planning. This session won’t be nearly as bad as it sounds; it is a chance to ask all
those death-related questions which seem inappropriate in other settings. For more info,
contact DeLila Bergan at [email protected].
