• SBO :The most common cause for emergent surgical intervention in the elderly.

• Serial examinations are extremely important.
Disposition
• An elderly patient with persistent abdominal pain despite a negative initial evaluation should be admitted to the hospital or an ED observation unit.
• Those patients discharged home should have clinical improvement noted, negative acute diagnostic testing, and should be able to tolerate POs.
• Timely follow-up should be arranged.• Caretakers need to be educated.
