Why Architects need maths By Alice Wilson 2.C
What is an Architect An Architect is someone who designs new
buildings, extensions and rebuild parts of buildings that aren’t safe or are just needing done up.
They can work on particular buildings or on big development schemes, and can also design landscapes and spaces.
Tasks they do An Architect can’t just design whatever they
want; they have to start by talking directly to the client and see what the clients ideas are. Once they have a vague outline of what task they are taking on they will then start to establish the budget. The architect also will want to know its impact in the local environment.
How they use mathsAn architect uses maths in many ways, such as:Basic maths (+,─,/,x)Measuring (drawing blueprints)Scales RatiosEquations (to calculate density & structural stress levels)Geometry
