Windsor’s Catholic Heritage Highlights from the Diocese of London’s Archives

In partnership with the Diocese of London’s Archives this exhibit highlights the contributions of
the early Roman Catholic churches in Windsor to society. It features church histories of
Assumption, St. Alphonsus, Immaculate Conception, Our Lady of the Rosary, Holy Name of
Mary, Holy Trinity, Sacred Heart and St. Anne’s. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to view
seldom-seen archival documents and unique artefacts.

Battle of Lake Erie talk at the John R. Park Homestead followed
by refreshments

Attention Grade 7/8 teachers School programs on the War of 1812 and Fur Trade in the Detroit River Region are available
upon request. See real artefacts from the early 19th century and learn how the early settlers

Junior Curator Program
Once again the museum in partnership
with John Campbell School produced four
new exhibits at the school as part of the
Junior Curator Program.
Thanks go to the school’s Principal,
Teresa Iandolo and Grade 7 teacher Peter
Hamelin and his class for the opportunity
to work with the students and showcase
some of the museum’s hidden treasures.
This year’s themes are Old and New,

insurance and resale value on November 3rd.
Home appointments for Estate assessments can be booked
for November 4th. The three experts will be looking at
Asian material, paintings and works on paper, porcelain,
glass, jewellery and collectibles.

Recent Acquisitions
The museum depends on donations
for its collection. Some highlights of
recent donations include:
The Chip and Dip Set in the origi-
nal packaging from Beverly Knight.
Cheryl Baker donated a Women’s
WWII uniform including the duffle
bag and her smalls. Marty Gervais
donated numerous articles from the
estate of Pat Sturn including her
dog Sepple’s collar and several dog
tags, photographs, negatives and
personal documents. Tom Marshall
donated a framed advertisement
for a Boxing Match between Harry-
Marshall and Chester Hodges at
the Windsor Arena, Wed. 11 June
1947. Three bottle crates and six
bottles from Mio, Happy Home and
7 Up were donated by Gil
Barichello. Evelyn McLean gave us
a collection of Christmas decora-
tions and Mathilda Thibert, a dog
tag from 1914. And when we can
arrange pick-up, David Pepper has
offered the museum a doctor’s scale
from the Leamington Hospital, a
1925 refrigerator and Gitlin’s
Furniture Store metal ruler.
Many other items were donated but
one of interest, a book, Pickles
Street Dog of Windsor was given to
the museum by Lynn Baker.

Can you Volunteer?
We are looking for volunteers to staff the main desk at the
museum. Volunteers are crucial in providing a presence on
the main floor of the museum for visitors and researchers
coming to the museum. Not only will you greet visitors but
also sell items in the Museum Volunteer Group Gift Shop.
Commitment required: Three hours twice a month, enjoy
meeting the public & learning about history!

1812 Yard Sale
Our fundraising yard sale on Satur-
day 8 September at the Duff-Baby
Interpretation Centre brought in
$1,125.00. Thank you to everyone
who donated items to sell and espe-
cially to all the volunteers who
helped to sort, price, work and pack
up on the day of the sale. We could
not have done this without you!
