Wire Tension Task Force Update
Roxanne Guenette (Harvard)
Diego Garcia Gamez (Granada)
APA Consortium meeting: 14 January 20191
-
Reminder of what we are trying to accomplish• Significantly improve wire tension measurement methods to
reduce considerably the measuring time
✓Laser method
✓Electrical method (and variations)
✓Cold Electronics method
✓Daresbury team is working on new winding head with reliable tension setting
• Assess the validity of the current tension requirements (5N±1N) (Hope to use protoDUNE data to address this)
• Assess (and develop) the quality control protocol for wire tension during production/integration/installation

Electrical Method (Update)
• Harvard (Sebastien & Nathan) is now setup for assessing/improving the electrical setup (many delays due to procurement of equipment, summer school and holidays)
• Thanks PSL for shipping a 35t APA and for shipping wire!

Electrical Method (Update)
• First tests show that we are ready for systematic checks and to develop improvements
5Resonance observed in right frequency range!

Summary
• Slow progress in December
• Harvard team is now full time on this for the next 2 months
• Undergraduate students will join the team shortly
• We are still planning on parallel efforts on electrical solution (most pressing) and protoDUNE data analysis, but immediate attention to the electrical method
