What a joy to welcome three new members to our fellowship.
Yesterday at the conclusion of worship, Buster and Liz Brown joined
by transfer of letter from the
Emmanuel Baptist Church in
Jenkins, KY. And Regina
Cantrell, pictured below with
Pastor Ray and Ms. Carolyn
and her granddaughter,
Chloe, joined by transfer of
letter from the Hurricane
Baptist Church.
Sign Up Day …
Sunday, August 1st will be “SIGN UP DAY” for the next Church year.
This will be held in the Fellowship Hall . We ask everyone to bring a
serving heart and Becky will be providing food for this event.
If you have not already completed a form deciding how you will serve
in moving our Church forward, this is your time. If you have any
questions please feel free to call Margie Horton, Gil Blackburn or Gary
Smith.
Church-wide Picnic A church-wide picnic at Camp Bethel on Wednesday, August 18,
2010, will mark our return to the Wednesday night sessions. The
picnic will be held at the lake at Camp Bethel. The church will
provide hamburgers and hot dogs and all the fixin’s, drinks and
paper goods. Please bring a side item or dessert. (Remember to
pick up your dishes when you leave that evening.) The picnic will
begin around 6:15, so please plan to arrive by 6:00. Swimming
and other activities will be available. If anyone is interested in
helping with the set-up, clean up, activities or life guarding, please
contact Teresa Adkins (328-6039) or the church office
(328-6247).
Our Deacon fellowship team gives great
leadership to the Wise Baptist Church through
prayer and service. It is time to once again to
submit nominations for Deacons. Our
membership needs to nominate three persons to
replace Robert Means, Dan Helton, and Ron
Helton. These men are rotating off and will not
be eligible to serve until next year. Our active
Deacons include: Jeff Adkins, John Kennedy,
Lewey Lee, Mark Clark, Mark Coomer and Robert
England.
On Sunday, August 8, forms will be given out to
our members to submit three names for Deacon.
A recommendation for three new Deacons will
be made to the church at the annual business
meeting on Wednesday, August 25.
Please begin praying now for those who will be
called to serve and for those who are currently
serving.
A NOTE FROM LEIGH:
Every week, people seek me out at the end of
worship to comment on the music. I must admit that
we have a pretty awesome choir! However, a choir
can only be as good as their accompanist and ours,
Susan Smith, is one of the best. Susan has
volunteered her time and talent to the Wise Baptist
Church choir for the last 26 years! Yesterday was her
last official day as the Wise Baptist Church pianist.
Susan has asked for a reprieve from her duties
because she and Gary will need to spend time over
the next few years travelling to see their beautiful
grandchildren. Susan will continue to be a part of the
choir as a vocalist.
Words cannot express my gratitude to Susan for her
countless and sometimes thankless hours of practice
and preparation for rehearsal and worship—not to
mention the special events, i.e. Christmas Eve,
Cantatas, Singspirations, etc.
Working with Susan has been a great blessing to me.
She is always flexible and positive and willing to try
any piece of music I put in front of her. She is a
talented accompanist—one of the best I’ve ever
worked with. Mostly, she is my friend and a constant
source of encouragement for me and my family. She
and Susan Mullins will trade places—Susan M. will
become the church pianist and Susan S. will become
the substitute.
On Sunday, August 15, we will have a moment of
recognition for Susan and her years of dedicated
service to the music ministry of Wise Baptist
Church. Please take the opportunity to express your
gratitude to Susan for her service to our church and
to Our Lord and Savior.
Blessings, Leigh
The Deacon
Fellowship will

and family at the loss of his mother, Ada Hopkins on
Saturday. Please be in prayer for this family.
“This was the best Vacation Bible School I’ve ever been a part of”. That was what one person said on Friday evening following the program in the sanctuary. It truly was a great week and it was made possible by the terrific leadership of Cindy Elkins. She put together a wonderful and talented team of volunteers that truly put their heart into sharing the love of Jesus with everyone who came through our doors. She’s already working on a team for next year; you won’t want to miss out—sign up today!! The total VBS offerings for the week were $467. Thi sis in addition to the actual supplies that have already
The youth are going to continue collecting School
