Using a band saw, cut eachside of the post along the pattern
ending at the bottom of the post, asshown in photo C. A couple of rollersupports were needed to help hold thepost behind the saw.

When you are finished cuttingboth sides of the pattern, carefully
remove the pattern and tape the cutoffsback onto the post using masking tape,as shown in photo D. This will give youa solid form to continue your cutting.
BAND SAW

Using a radial arm saw, cut thepost (A) to the length given in the
material list, as shown in photo A.Locate the post pattern in the
pattern packet and adhere it to thebottom of the post with double-sidedtape, as shown on photo B.

This article shows two methods of transferring patterns to yourwood blanks. You might also want to just copy our pattern fourtimes and adhere with double-sided tape.

Remove the tape and pattern,as shown in photo F, and you have
your decorative post.
Cut leg blank (B) to thedimensions given in the material
list. Locate the leg pattern in the
pattern packet. Trace the leg pat-tern onto a piece of cardboard, as shownin photo G inset. Cut out the cardboardpattern.

photo E inset.Cut along the pattern lines
again, using the band saw, asshown in photo E.

Measure down 32" from thetop of the post and mark for leg
placements, as shown in photo K.This is a good time to sand the
legs and post, through 220-gritsandpaper.
Cut arm blanks (C) to thedimensions given in the material
list.Locate the arm pattern in the
pattern packet. Double check tomake sure this pattern works with your
tray. There may be slight differences.Adjust the pattern accordingly.
Transfer the pattern to theblank, four times, using transfer
paper, as shown in photo M.

sealer. Let dry. Set tray (E) in armsand fill with water. The tray can alsohold birdseed instead of water. WW
arms through 220-grit sandpaper.Measure down 6" from the
top of post and mark for arm placement.
Pre-drill as for the legs andscrew arms on the post with wood
Align legs with marks and pre-drill using a 1/8 " bit, as shown in
photo L.Screw the legs to the post with
wood screws (D), as shown inphoto L.
