Altivo (Vineyard Selection)Torrontés - 2010

North Region, Salta Area, Cafayate ValleyArgentina
13% vol.92% Torrontés, 8% Gewürtztraminer
The young and talented Winemaker at Altivo Cristian Garcia, has crafted a beautiful Torrontes from a 80 yr old vineyard in Cafayate in the province of Salta. Steely mineral characters provide the structure. Lush fruit flavors coat the palate. With zero oak, the wine exhibits great freshness and wonderful depth of flavor.
The vineyard is planted on land purchased by the pioneering Eugenio Bustos. The 400 hectares under vine are about 1.5 hours drive south of the bustling regional city of Mendoza. It seems the perfect place to plant vines. With the Andes ever present to the west, an abundance of pure "melt water" when required, the vines are nurtured by long sunny days, and cool nights.

Patagonia Region, Neuquén Area, San Patricio del Chañar
Argentina14%
100% Pinot Noir
The wine presents itself with deep red tones. Well defined, medium bodied with ultra fine tannins and fruity nuances that wave through a finish of superior depth and dimension.
Dark, full-throttle aromas of black cherry, candied plum and burnt something or other set up a straightforward, fairly full-bodied palate with mildly tart plum and cherry flavors.
*The word ‘Alpataco’ is the name of a thorny bush in Patagonian Argentina.

An exceptional deep, dark red wine showcasing intense aromas of ripe black fruit coupled with spicy black pepper. On the palate, the wine is voluptuous with flavors of black berry, dark chocolate and hints of vanilla from the oak.
Marqués de Casa Concha wines were created as a tribute to the title conferred upon the Concha y Toro family in 1718 by King Felipe V of Spain. The wines are single vineyard, estate bottled wines made in limited production with grapes grown in the prime vineyards of the Central Valley. Marqués de Casa Concha wines embody Concha y Toro’s tradition in the art of winemaking.

Page 10
Cuyo Region, MendozaArgentina14.5% vol
95% Malbec, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon
Beautiful deep violet color with exploding aromas of blackberry, black cherry, and violets framed by hints of oak and mint. The wonderful aromas are mirrored on the palate, and they are joined by ripe plum fruit and a hint of toasty vanilla, bittersweet chocolate, and a hint of mint on the finish.
Susana Balbo applied to study nuclear physics in Bariloche. Her parents refused to let her leave Mendoza so she decided to follow the family business (viticulture) professionally, challenging contemporary social beliefs since at that time no women had graduated as winemakers. Susana earned a BA degree in Enology in 1981 with honors as the best graduate, becoming the first woman enologist in Argentina. After working at various wineries she founded Dominio del Plata in 1999.

Page 11
Central Valley, Rapel Valley, ColchaguaChile
14.1% vol.85% Cabernet Sauvignon; 9% Syrah; 4% Merlot and 2% Carmenère.
Deep red with dark purple hints. Intense and expressive nose with garnet and fresh red fruit, but yet elegant with subtle sweet spiced from a well integrated oak. Intense mouth feel with a broad tannic structure, lingering towards fresh red fruit flavors. A concentrated body, which will enable a long bottle ageing. Dark red balances racy wild berry and cassis notes with full yet fine tannins, with layers of toasty oak, smoke and baking spice. Polished, with a long, savory aftertaste of spice, cured olive and underbrush.
Winery owned by Alexandra Marnier Lapostolle, great-granddaughter of the creator of Grand Marnier.
