WHAT IS XPOS?
“XPos” is a computer system designed to
extract data to help generate management and
marketing information from the point of sale.
This information falls into a number of catego-
ries, capital usage, product profitability, shop
planning and layout, management accounts
and customer performance and preferences.
If acted upon, this information can increase
profitability and optimize capital investment.
By collecting point of sale information, we can
keep stock levels to a minimum but still maintain
a full product range. We can invest capital more
effectively by maintaining product lines that
achieve higher gross margins and have quicker
stock turns. Customers can be better informed
of special offers and their accounts can be
more accurately maintained. Customer perfor-
mance can be monitored to see who are really
good clients. A customer bonus card function is
available to help increase and maintain custo-
mer loyalty.
Suppliers can be monitored to see who is pro-
viding the best service and delivery and whose
products bring in the best margins. Staff can
be monitored to show who generates the most
sales and who gives away the least margin.
They can also be awarded commission through
the system.
XPos is the EPOS system developed by Cross-
over to help the golf retailer. Different from other
EPOS packages which are just glorified tills,
XPos has been designed to create detailed
management information, to make the golf
retailers business more efficient.
WHAT ROLE DOES GOLFSTORE PLAY?
Golfstore programs and updates the article
register with all of Golfstore’s suppliers’ products,
barcodes and prices each year. These updates
are available for downloading at any time via
XCodes. Web products are also included in
these updates, which means consumers can
see whether or not your shop is stocking certain
web products. New products, campaigns and
price changes are also updated during the
season. Newsletters and group statistics are
published on GS Net on a monthly basis.
A Golfstore staff member helps you analyse
your reports, as well as, provides you with
information in preparation for the pre-order
show. The marketing department produces
material for Golfstore’s loyalty card, Bonus
Card. In addition, Golfstore sets aside a special
budget to help subsidize the XPos project.

Bonus Card
As an XPos user, you have the possibility to join
the Bonus Card program, which is Golfstore’s
incentive system designed to make your shop
more attractive for your customers and to
increase your sales and profit.
BACKGROUND
All businesses strive to build long-lasting rela-
tionships with their customers. Airlines offer
“frequent flyer”-cards, IKEA has family- or com-
pany cards, grocery stores give out bonus
stamps, etc. Most loyalty schemes are built
around the same concept: The more you buy
from me – The bigger the benefits for you. Re-
search has proven that consumers are prepared
to go out of their way to make sure they collect
their points, miles or stamps: Travelers choose
a certain airline, even though it is slightly more
expensive, just to collect their miles in the quest
for a free trip. They pass several gas stations,
even if the warning light is on, to fill up at the
station where they get bonus points towards a
future gift certificate or cash reward, etc.
GOAL
The goal with Golfstore’s Bonus Card is
twofold:
1. To give your customers an incentive to
always come to your shop for their golf
equipment purchases, instead of choosing
a competitor.
2. To offer you an incentive system, which is
easy to handle through your XPos program,
and provide help with marketing from
Golfstore centrally.
BENEFITS
• You can offer your customer additional
benefits from buying in your shop.
• You can avoid cash discounts.
• The system is very easy to handle, since it is
connected to the sales function in XPos.
• If you choose to zero the bonus points per
1/1, then you can inform your customers per
e-mail. This generates more sales at the end
of the season.
