Progress vs AttainmentWhat does Progress 8 measure?
Progress 8 calculates how much progress pupils make between their
results at Key Stage 2 and their results in Year 11. It is a ‘value-added’
measure, meaning pupils’ results are compared to the achievements of
other pupils with similar Key Stage 2 results. All schools aim to ensure

Exam board states that because the foundation tier is now harder, more students will be doing foundation - 50/50 split, compared to 70/30 split previously.
The new foundation goes up to grade 5 (the old B grade)
