Dear Parents / Carers I would like to take this opportunity to welcome students, parents and staff back to school. I would like to welcome the following staff to Yale Primary School in 2021:- Mrs Parsha Beardmore working in EC1 Pre-primary classroom. Mr Nick Carlson working in B4 Year 3 classroom. Mrs Alicia Twinch working in EC3 Kindy classroom on a Wednesday. Ms Jo Abarca working in LOTE across the school. Mrs Michelle London working in the school office. Miss Kimberly Dimer working in A3 Year 1 classroom. I am looking forward to working with all these new staff members. I would also like to welcome back Mrs Parveen Chahal working in A4 Year 2. Work is progressing on the early childhood new building site. The earthworks are almost complete, and it won’t be long before we see a new slab and foundations go down. A big thank you to all of the parents for wearing your masks last week while on the school site. You were so supportive. It is always great to work with such a supportive community. We have had a fabulous start to the school year and attendance this week has been outstanding with Monday at 94.5%, Tuesday at 93.8% and Wednesday at 93.1%. Well done! Our enrolments are up slightly on last year with 461 being enrolled for the new school year. Glen Read Principal

Thursday 1st April —Students last day of Term One
Hi Everyone
Each day I have a walk through the classrooms and I see students engaged and teachers and education
assistants committed to their teaching and desire for all students to succeed in their educational, social
and emotional development.
What we do every day Consistently expect appropriate student behaviour that supports a safe and caring environment. Encourage positive, respectful relationships between staff, students and families. Implement strategies to promote academic achievement and address issues such as learning extension programmes and learning support programmes. Structure opportunities for all the students to be Successful and celebrated at school. Spelling 2021 As part of our strategic direction this year, the students have been assessed and placed in spelling groups that reflect their level of ability rather than year level. This is a response to our analysis of the school spelling data and our implementation of EDI (Explicit Direct Instruction). Some students may be required to transit to another learning area for their spelling group. This plan enables us to differentiate the curriculum to support and extend student learning.
Welcome to a new year of working and growing together. It
has been great to see our returning students and welcome
our new families to Yale Primary School. The staff and stu-
dents have settled in well and I look forward to working with
you all for a fabulous year of learning.

harmonicas and 6 ukuleles from Classic Sounds, to the school
music program.
The vendors of the ice-cream truck, Unicone, who gave the school a

As always, our P&C worked hard to ensure our Christmas stall was a
great success by raising over $2000
Behaviour tracking
At Yale we celebrate positive student behaviour using in class rewards, office visit positive behaviour tokens
and whole school reward events. Along with our positive behaviour charts and PBS ‘bee’ tokens, we have also
introduced a classroom behaviour recording chart. Clear and visible behaviour expectations assist
