Buffalo State’s physics teacher education program was ranked as one of 11 model programs in the United States. The rankingwas published in a report by the National Task Force on TeacherEducation in Physics.
Buffalo State’s visual arts programs ranked 13th on the list of “Top 50 U.S. Colleges Where Art Programs Abound,” published byCollege Database. Buffalo State ranked ahead of Cornell and Yale.

nities. The Undergraduate
Research Office promotes,
supports, and funds undergradu-
ate research in all academic
areas—from the sciences to the
arts—and for all committed
students. More than 400 students
present their research through
posters and performances each
year at the Student Research and
Creativity Celebration. They also
compete for Undergraduate
Summer Research Fellowships,
which support eight weeks of paid
research activity.
Buffalo State’s International
Education Office coordinates
international study programs in
Australia, Canada, England, the
Netherlands, Puerto Rico, and
Spain as well as the venerable
Siena (Italy) Program, SUNY’s
first study-abroad program.
Students may also choose from
programs in more than 60 countries

THE FUTURE IS HERE.
The renovated Student Union Plaza features contemporary
walking paths, expanded outdoor seating, enhanced lighting,
and additional green space in the heart of campus.
The new Student Apartment Complex features four-bedroom
apartments with single bedrooms, a full kitchen, and a living
area—the ultimate in on-campus living.
The new Technology Building features green design with
smart classrooms, research spaces, student computer labs,
and a vegetated roof.
The new Science and Mathematics Complex (Phase I opened
2012; Phase II scheduled for completion in 2015) provides
modern research and teaching facilities under a signature multi-
story glass atrium (page 14).
The renovated Rockwell Hall provides the Music and Art
Conservation departments with state-of-the-art facilities, including
a new recital hall overlooking the nearby Albright-Knox Art Gallery.
The renovation of the four Scajaquada Tower student
residences (ongoing) will provide state-of-the-art student suites
and public spaces.
The renovation of Houston Gym provides contemporary facilities
for all Buffalo State athletics and fitness programs.

A Learning Community at Buffalo State is a group of students who
study a common theme and combine their academic work with residence
hall living. Each Learning Community has dedicated residence hall space
