Dear DSYM,
I am glad to know that the DSYM Burari is bringing out the
second issue of the Electronic Magazine (Yuvadeepti). I amsure that this magazine will help all of us to enlighten the
horizon of our life in the light of Faith. Our life in the society
has to transmit the values, life concepts, moral choices that
progressively impose on those who do not have the ability to
react. We need to create an atmosphere of charity in the dailylife and discover that Christian life following Christ is quite
unlike what everyone thinks. We must all take our share of
responsibility, each one of us according to his/her means,
forming ourselves to be good human being, devoting time to
our needy brothers and sisters in the society. As Jesus calls us
all to follow His path, let us try our level best to make every
moment meaningful and respond to the cry of people around
us.
I appreciate and encourage all of you for taking many steps tobring light to the truth. God bless and guide all of you. Mother
Mary intercede for you that you may be enlightened to spread
the fragrance of love and truth.
With my Good wishes,
Bro. Davis Kalliyath

1Thes.5:16-17 "Rejoice always, give thanks inall circumstances." One day a nurse asked anelderly woman nearly 70 in an old age home,'Mother, how can you be happy always like thiswhile other inmates always complain anddissatisfied?' The old lady smilingly said, I lostmy husband 20 years back, I have no children, but I am happy that I have this home, I amable to walk slowly, able to do my own works,My husband was an educated man , goodlooking, very loving, all these memories keepme joyful, God gives me everything I need and
he does many things in my life. Therefore Ithank God for all these and keep me joyful.'
Being grateful to God, having an attitude ofgratitude can make our hearts joyful. A joyfulheart keeps a healthy body. In the book ofPsalms we can see that every Psalm beginswith a praise and thanksgiving to God. Ps.33says "Rejoice in the Lord, for praise befits theupright." We read in the gospel of St. Lukethat Jesus asks to the Samaritan who was
cleansed of his leprosy and returned to saythanks to Him, "Where are the other nine whowere cleansed of their skin diseases?" TheSamaritan's attitude of gratitude filled his
heart a kind of joy. The Samaritan womanrejoices in Christ when she encountered thedivine. She leaves everything and follows Himto experience that
everlasting joy. To Berthemeus the blind manJesus asks "What do you want me to do foryou? He says 'I want to see.' He heals and hiseye sight was restored. The blind manexperienced the joy of Christ. If we journeyfrom the first book of the Holy Bible to the lastbook we come across with the people wholived in the joy of divine for they encounteredHim and they received grace upon gracebecause of their gratitude towards Him.
Mother Mary rejoiced in God and sang thesong of praise; the Magnificat. She sings 'Mysoul magnifies the Lord and my spirit rejoicesin God my savior.' This season of joy invites usto rejoice in Christ our savior. The coming ofthe savior reminds of God's personal love tous. Can we count the blessings bestowed uponus? If not, why do we complain? Leave asideall our worries for He cares for you. Rejoice inhim always.

On the Surface, Happiness and Joy are similar, they are both uplifting and blissful experiences.Yet there are more differences than similarity.Happiness is a self- focused emotion lieddirectly to getting what we want.Joy is a spiritual result of our focus on God. It istied to our salvation and our walk with Christ.Happiness is temporary at ,it is subjective toour circumstances and moods. Joy is eternallybased and can be ours even in our deepestvalleys. Happiness quickly leaves us when wefail to attain our goals or we become bored withour .Joy is from God and therefore can neverbe stolen from us.Joy is given through the Holy Spirit the momentwe accept Christ as our savior. As Christiansour joy can never be completely destroyed, although there are many pitfalls which cansignificantly diminish it. Joy is a permanentGift from God, but it is also a gift for which wemust take responsibility for nurturing andprotecting on a daily basis.
We can always find joy in our salvation, because our salvation is assured. Paul told thePhilippians "In all my prayers for all of you, Ialways pray with joy because of yourpartnership in the gospel from the first day untilnow, being confident of this, that he who begana good work in you will carry it on to completionuntil the day of Christ Jesus"(Philippians 1:4-6).
You may have heard the acronym for J-O-Yrepresenting how to gain joy through our
priorities Jesus, others, then yourself .Butconsider this twist.J stand for Jesus, Y stands for you, but Ostands for Zero. When absolutely
Nothing comes between Jesus and you will findJoy. At the centre of our joy is our relationshipwith had, anything that stands between us andour savior will corrode our joy.One of the greatest threats to our joy isdisobedience, we become a fruitless andjoyless Christ ian .Jesus warned againstfruitlessness" No branch can bear fruit itself, itmust remain in the vine. Neither can you bearfruit unless you remain in me. I am the vine, youare the branches. If a man remains in me and Iin him .he will bear mush fruit: apart from meyou can do nothing"(John 15:5,5) Joy does not mean that we will not experiencepain or sadness or frustration when everythingseems to go wrong. But unlike happiness wecan find joy in the midst of our suffering .whenChrist is at the centre of our lives, when his gloryis our goal, when we refuse to be intimated by
life's obstacles, and when we live totally forChrist in obedience, we will find a joy that willcarry us through the darkest of valleys."For the kingdom of God is not a matter ofeating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit."

Lord Jesus,
you always showed great love
for the young and the gospels
are filled with incidents aboutthe children in general and the
centurious servant and the
rich young man and jairus
daughter. Please power down
you're grace to help us in our
growing and formative years.
Enable us to take advantageof all the good things while
avoiding the many pitfall of
their age. Grant that we may
follow the example of youthful
saints in remaining devoted to
you. Help us to carry out our
Vocation in life for the good of
ourselves and for the good of
others.
Amen.
