MARKET APPROACH
EU supports a project (qualireg) to increase quality of the meats and foods from these countries
In EU remote area =>meat must be imported for EU and not from neibourghoods
Diagnostic tests are needed
![Page 4: ZOONOSIS AND «ONE HEALTH»: the veterinaryapproach](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062516/62b2cd2d7241b169a0422139/html5/thumbnails/4.jpg)
4
CYSTICERCOSIS SITUATION
- 50 000 000 infected people- 50 000 deaths per year
Human = 3 tapeworms: Tænia solium, Tænia saginata, T. asiatica.
T. solium most frequent( South America, South East Asia, Africa)
T. asiatica = Taiwan, Thaïland, en Koree, China, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Madagascar
![Page 5: ZOONOSIS AND «ONE HEALTH»: the veterinaryapproach](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062516/62b2cd2d7241b169a0422139/html5/thumbnails/5.jpg)

EPIDEMIOLOGY
Contact human-pork => taeniasis / pork cysticercosis
Fecal peril=> contact with eggs from T. solium=> human cysticercosis
Self contamination => human cysticercosis
Tourism / migrations = change in area of transmission (imported cases)

•Pig treatment (1 USD)= feasable•good practices in pig farms (biosecurity measures) = feasable•Vaccination of pig = ongoing
•Large scale detection T.solium in human (???)•Health education = hopefully !!•Anthropological issues and constraints for changes• Human Mass treatment (with schistosomiasis) = feasable

GALVMED / OMS Strategy
GALVMED: one dose oxfendazole by mouth and one vaccine into
neck muscle = at the same time then a second vaccination 3-4 months later + oxfendazole.
OTHERS: vaccine given four weeks apart and oxfendazole at the time
of second vaccination,
vaccine four weeks apart then repeated at six months and oxfendazole every two months.

Conclusion / Take home message
Présentation des activités de l’Institut Pasteur24
cysticercose is a priority for WHO
Human is the source of contamination of porks and humans
Better practices of rearing lead to control of taeniasis
Screening of herd is important for control of the disease and fortrading / exportation.
Cost of a test will be covered by the price of the meat
Two formats needed : ELISA / RDT
For human serology detection is best in CSF, but screening ofpatients using blood sample is needed for villagers

1.5 Traitement

Traitement anti-epileptique
