Downloading data from Digimap for use with AutoCAD Digimap provides some great resources and one of the most useful is the Vector Map Local dataset, which is detailed mapping that can be opened directly in AutoCAD without any translation. Here’s how to get it: 1. Login to Digimap. 2. Select “Ordnance Survey” from the left-column options. 3. Select “Download OS mapping data…” and then click the “Data Download” link. 4. Click the “Search” button and find the general area you are interested in. 5. You can zoom in and out of the map for more or less detail using the scroll wheel on the mouse. 6. Select the area you want. “Draw Rectangle” is probably the best option. 7. Select the data type you want. Select “Vector Data” and then click the checkbox against “Vector Map Local”.

Downloading data from Digimap for use with AutoCAD Digimap provides some great resources and one of the most useful is the Vector Map Local

dataset, which is detailed mapping that can be opened directly in AutoCAD without any

translation. Here’s how to get it:

1. Login to Digimap.

2. Select “Ordnance Survey” from the left-column options.

3. Select “Download OS mapping data…” and then click the “Data Download” link.

4. Click the “Search” button and find the general area you are interested in.

5. You can zoom in and out of the map for more or less detail using the scroll wheel on

the mouse.

6. Select the area you want. “Draw Rectangle” is probably the best option.

7. Select the data type you want. Select “Vector Data” and then click the checkbox

against “Vector Map Local”.

10. Give the download a name.

11. Click “Request Download”.

12. You will be sent an email to confirm your request. This is followed by a second email

with download instructions when your order is ready. The second email often arrives

with the first but at busy times you may have to wait 10 minutes or more.

13. Your data will arrive as a ZIP archive. Extract the zipped files and open them in

AutoCAD.

14. The Vector Map Local data comes in 5km x 5km tiles, so you may find that you have

more than one file. However, they are all georeferenced and will slot together like a

jigsaw puzzle when inserted into a new AutoCAD drawing.

If you would like to create a scaled plot from your drawing, follow this tutorial at the

Course Stuff website.
