Downtown Lexington Partnership (DLP) Managers of Downtown on behalf of our partners (Downtown Lexington Corporation, Lexington Downtown Development Association and Downtown Lexington Management District) and our stakeholders. June 2018 Activity Report Summer was in full swing with hosting, sponsoring and planning special events and working to improve Downton marketing. DLP hosted another year of the Bike Lexington Family Fun Ride presented by Pedal Power and Republic Bank. This family-friendly, free event attracted more than 500 participants of all ages. Central Bank Thursday Night Live enjoyed a good month of concerts and planning continued for the Fourth of July holiday events and Fountain Film series. DLP and Downtown Lexington Management District (DLMD) also sponsored the Paint The Town which attracted more than 40 artists to create a masterpiece of Downtown. In addition, DLP hosted a new type of meet and greet event attracting more than 25 members to attend Lexington Legend’s baseball game. In June, DLP initiated a public engagement-focused process to create a new brand and Downtown website. Working with our creative agency, Fieldtrip, we hosted a kick-off reception, four focus group meetings and other public outreach events allowing nearly 400 people to participate in the brand development. The process is expected to last through the summer with a launch in October. Stay tuned for exciting updates! Finally, Spin bike share program launched on June 29 th centered in the Downtown area. Branding Kick-off Reception

Development and Placemaking: Attract new businesses, development and residences; increase sales activity and street level occupancy and improve existing buildings and urban design. I. Plan Downtown development in coordination with City of Lexington and private sector.

A. Met with M. Ramer, VisitLex to discuss downtown wayfinding system and updates to the signs.

B. Met with J. Duncan, Director of Planning, to discuss code enforcement, development processes, and downtown coordination.

C. Met with K. Yan about property improvement grants and city approval processes in Courthouse Overlay District.

II. Attract new businesses and development and increase street level occupancy A. Managed Property Improvement Grant Program.

1. Worked with S. Ebbitt, Bluegrass Tavern, on project scope and Courthouse Overlay application.

2. Met with D. Harrison, Country Boy Brewing, R. Gill, Harman Construction, about Country Boy Brewing project and grant application.

3. Worked with Kurt and Kremena; Unlearn Fear and Hate on their application. B. Met with P. Suiter, Republic Bank, on development questions regarding a historic property

on Short St.

III. Document and report the economic activity and impact of Downtown. A. Confirmed internship with K. Moore and WKU to conduct census of downtown properties. B. Developed booklets for the Impact Study and Survey results and began working with Print

Lex for distribution to Downtown Lexington Management District (DLMD) property owners. C. Documented new project pipeline.

Environment: Create a cleaner, safer, more beautiful and accessible Downtown. I. Improve Cleanliness and Perceptions of Cleanliness.

A. DLMD Ambassador Team tracking. DLMD’s four-man cleaning crew recorded the following activity:

1. 881 pounds of debris and trash collected. 2. 57 Graffiti sites removed/painted over. 3. 39 Customer contacts. 4. 4 Business contacts. 5. 11 Panhandling. 6. 3 Sidewalk drains cleared. 7. 7 Requests for police. 8. 22 Motorist assists. 9. 81 Block of Weed Abatement.

10. 31 Power Washing Hours. B. Began spring cleanup.

1. Initial spring clean-up items in zone 1 began being addressed. 2. Met with G. Means, LexPark, on Village Square garage improvements.

A. Began working with Block By Block to create the parking lot attendant program. B. Assisted DLMD with adding two bike safety ambassadors.

III. Improve Accessibility, Infrastructure and Connectivity

(Multimodal Mobility). A. Supported launch of the Spin bike share program

1. Met with D. Wong, Spin to discuss how DLP can provide ongoing support.

IV. Improve Beautification, Public Spaces and Placemaking.

A. Discussed electric box art locations with A. Poe, Environmental Services Department.

B. Coordinated with J. Wuorenmaa to be placed on Corridors Commission meeting agenda regarding electric box art.

C. Met with J. Pitter, consultant; L. Adkins, BGCF; N. Davis, Library; to partner on the Inclusive Cities Play Date.

1. Developed list and contact info of potential design volunteers and sent initial introductions of the project to them.

2. Sponsored materials and snacks for the project. D. Supported Town Branch Commons and Park.

II. Create and manage DLP events to increase Downtown visitorship, event attendance and revenue and sales of our businesses. A. Central Bank Thursday Night Live (CBTNL).

1. Produced four successful CBTNL events with attendance averaging 3,500 per night. 2. Recorded $34,840 in beverage sales. 3. Met with L. Eldridge, Sisopromatium Art Foundation regarding free programing for

6. Arranged the use and pick up of Community Band Drums with D. Biggs, UK Director of Athletic Bands.

7. Patriotic Concert Stage build was executed by Lexington Parks and Recreation Staff. C. Triangle Park.
