Art at the Garage Cultural Center 58 State Street, 2nd floor

`` 12:30–1:15PM PRESENTATION 12:30–5:00PM SELF-GUIDED

The newly-refurbished Garage Cultural Center features a “taste” of what Art at the Kent, a State-owned historic site, provides—contemporary art exhibits in an 1837 tavern in rural Calais. David Schütz and Nel Emlen will present a program on their success curating contemporary art that “converses” with the historic setting.

French Block Apartments 34 Main Street (Entrance in Back)

``TOURS AT 12:45PM / 1:10PM / 1:35PM (LIMITED TO FIRST 20 PEOPLE PER TOUR)

The rejuvenation of French Block Apartments has created 18 mixed affordable and market-rate apartments on upper floors of the historic, masonry building located on Main Street. These two floors have been vacant since the 1940s. For the first time in over 75 years, the building is now occupied by residents. Come take a look at one of the finished apartments.

Way to Go! Awards & Green Mobility Party State House Lawn

`` 10:00AM–2:00PM

Experience how Vermont’s top performing schools, innovative businesses in solar and electric (EV) transportation, and non-profits are advancing low cost pop-up projects for safe streets, moving to electric bikes and buses, and choosing more active transportation. Check out the eBike demos, the AllEarth solar PowerFlower, youth actions and more, all working together for the shared vision of great places to live, learn, work and play. The Tower at Hubbard Park

Built in 1915 and finished in 1930, the tower is located on the highest point of Hubbard Park. The closest trailhead to downtown is behind the State House on the east side. Travel up the trail about a half mile uphill where it opens up to the tower. Climb up the stairs to get a priceless view of Vermont’s little capital and beyond.

Montpelier Parklets

Montpelier has several parklets adding to the vibrancy of downtown while expanding seating capacity at local businesses. Take a look at parklets outside of Positive Pie on State Street, Down Home Kitchen on Langdon Street and the newest parklet in front of the Senior Center on Barre Street. If traveling along the Siboinebi Path, look for Guertin pocket park on the north side of the pedestrian bridge, east of VSECU.

Siboinebi Path

This popular recreation path recently renamed Siboinebi Path, which means river water, travels along the Winooski River from Junction Road on the west past the Montpelier High School through downtown to Granite Street near the Hunger Mountain Co-op on the east. Currently 1.7 miles, the path is currently being extended nearly 2 miles to Gallison Hill Road near the Civic Center.
