Sontag: How do you see your own role in relation to the role of Jesus?

Moon: One of my most important revelations is that Jesus Christ did not come to die. He came to this world to consummate his messianic mission given by God, which is the establishment of the Kingdom of God here on earth.

Through his crucifixion, however, Jesus gave himself as a sacrifice for the faithlessness of the world, and by his resurrection, he established spiritual salvation.

This is the teaching of the Divine Principle.

Moon: Complete salvation, which is physical as well as spiritual, was the ultimate purpose and intended goal of God for mankind at the time of Jesus.

That mission was not totally accomplished.

We must realize, however, that this was not because of any fault on the part of Jesus Christ.

Moon: Rather it was because of the rejection by the people. This point is greatly misunderstood today.

The Second Coming was predicted because the mission was not totally accomplished in the first. Therefore, a messianic crusade is destined to begin here on earth in order to consummate the will of God. The work of the Unification Church and my mission is to proclaim the coming of the Messianic Age.

Sontag: It is often said by religious critics of the church that the Principle does not stress the resurrection of Jesus as the central event for Christians and that this is the main issue in the charge of heresy against you.

Would you comment on the significance of Jesus' resurrection?

Moon: The Unification Church emphasizes the resurrection in a different light.

The dispensation of God is a process of resurrection, so we look at resurrection as the process of restoration and salvation.

We teach that the true resurrection of man is the resurrection of heart, the restoration of man's complete relationship to God.

Moon: God is looking forward to the resurrection of all humanity.

It is indeed his goal and the greatest event that will happen in all history. I emphasize the resurrection of the entire world, every individual and nation, as the ultimate fulfillment of salvation.

Moon: Resurrection is synonymous to restoration.

So the Unification Church seeks physical as well as spiritual restoration. The Kingdom of God on Earth is really the resurrected world. In that world, there is the resurrection of the individual, where full spiritual perfection is achieved for eternity, then resurrection of the family, resurrection of the society, tribe, nation, and world.

Moon: We become resurrected as sons and daughters of God; we become transformed into children of God. It will be a glorious day when we all become resurrected and enter into His Kingdom of Heaven.

Jesus was, is, and will be permanently the source of the resurrection of life.

The Red Book is a red leather‐bound folio manuscript crafted by the Swiss psychiatrist Carl Gustav Jung between 1915 and about 1930. It recounts and comments upon the author's imaginative experiences between 1913 and 1916, and is based on manuscripts first drafted by Jung in 1914‐15 and 1917.

Despite being nominated as the central work in Jung’s oeuvre,

it was not published or made otherwise accessible for study until 2009.

The Red Book is not "personal" as we use that word now. It is "personal" in the sense that it details one individual's very unique experience of coming into relationship with what Jung termed the Self, and in prior times was referred to as God, but it is at the same time very impersonal, and actually universal, in cataloguing the drama inherent in any person's formation of that relationship.

The book is at home with The Odyssey, The Divine Comedy, Goethe's Faust, and, as much as anything, The Red Book is Jung's response to Thus Spoke Zarathustra and to Nietzsche's proposition that for modern man, God is dead.

This truly unique book represents the personal journal one courageous man took into the dangerous realm of the unconscious in search of an understanding of himself and the structure of the human personality in general.

In the process, Jung regained his soul which was lost in the contemporary malaise of spiritual alienation. Liber Novus, as the book is called, represents a prototype of the individuation process, which is seen as the universal form of individual development.

Jung was a psychiatrist who worked with schizophrenics. He intuited that their fantasies held meaning important for their healing and saw that some of the fantasies corresponded to mythological motifs.

This curiosity lead Jung to his own decision to drop beneath consciousness to explore the realm of these fantasies, the realm of the "dead". He did this without chemicals or inducers but through a process he called active imagination. An inner world opened up to him to explore, which he documented in his writings and paintings.

Dr Young Oon Kim:We can find an important tradition aboutthe risen Jesus in Paul's letters which is twenty years closer to Jesus' earthly ministry (I Cor. 15:3).

Paul relates two very significant facts: a list of resurrection appearances which he claims to have received from the original apostolic community and each appearance was like his own mystical experience on the Damascus road.

That means the first resurrection appearances were of the spiritual Jesus. More importantly, Paul nowhere refers to the empty tomb.

Doesn't this suggest that in his time-twenty years before Mark-Christians did not believe that Jesus' tomb was found empty?

Holy Bible Story: Matthew 27:52 states that, upon the crucifixion of Jesus, the tombs were opened and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised.

This does not mean that their physical bodies, which had already decomposed in the earth, were raised.

This is merely a record of the fact that the spirit men of the Old Testament Age, who had stayed in the spirit world as form spirits, descended in order to enter the life-spirit stage by cooperating with the saints on earth, who were in a position to benefit by the ransom of the cross.

If the saints of the Old Testament Age had literally beenraised from the tombs, they would surely have given witness to Jesus as the Messiah.

Then, would not the people have believed that Jesus, who was testified to by the saints raised from the tombs, was the Messiah?

Their activities would have been recorded in the Bible. But we have no such record in the Bible, other than the fact that they were raised from the tombs. From this, we may understand that these were spirit men who could be seen for a brief interval, only by those whose spiritual eyes were opened.

Compared to Paradise, which people could enter through the ransom by the cross of Jesus, the region where the spirit men of the Old Testament Age were staying was darker and full of misery; thus, it was called a "tomb".
