2. Insert the paper squarely into the paper insertion slot until the ALARM

lamp goesout.Ten, holddown the FEED switch to advancethe paper 8lines,andreleasetheswitchwhen8-lineeedingiscompleted.

Ithepaperisnotedstraightduring8-lineeeding,straightenthepaperby

pullingitbackslowlyasyouholdthepaperreleaseleverdown.Iasprocket

holeistornorenlarged,recutthepaperandreinsertitasbeore.

3. Aer conrming that the paper has been ed in straight, eed the paper

continuouslybyholdingtheeedswitchdown.

TiscanbeachievedbysendinganENQcodetotheprinterandcheckingthe

statusuntilthestatuscodeindicatesanemptybuer.Atthatpoint,theSXcode

issentbythehostcomputer ollowedbya datablock.Whilereceivingthe data

block, the printer generates a horizontal parity check character. Aer the datablockissent,thehostcomputersendsanENQwhichcausestheprintertoreturn

2characters,onewouldbethenormalstatuscharacter,andthesecondwouldbe

thehorizontalparitycheckcharacterthatwasgeneratedbytheprinterwhilethe

datablockwasreceived.

Tehostcomputerchecks thestatuscharacter todetermine iany verticalpar-

ity errors or other errors occurred during block transmission, and checks the

horizontal parity character against a character generated in the host computer

whilethedatawastransmitted. I therearenoerrors, EXcausesthebuer tobeprinted,butianerrorisdetected,CANcodeclearsthebuerandthedatais

transmittedagain.AnycontrolcodestransmittedtotheprinterduringtheSX-

EX mode will be ignoredas control codes, but will be includedin the check

character.Tisisdonetopreventacontrolcodereceivedinerrorromcausing

printingoerroneousdata.
