The Worship of Father, Son & Holy SpiritFebruary 26, 2012

We have a nursery available for children 3 and under. Children4 to 6 years of age may be dismissed to Godly Play prior to the sermon. Thank you for joining us today and may the Lordrichly bless you.

Song of Assembly1

He Knows My Name WalkerI have a Maker

He formed my heartBefore even time beganMy life was in his hands

He knows my nameHe knows my every thoughtHe sees each tear that falls

And He hears me when I call

I have a FatherHe calls me His ownHe’ll never leave me

No matter where I go

Welcome and Preparation for WorshipThere is a green hill far away, Without a city wall,Where the dear Lord was crucified, Who died to save us all.We may not know, we cannot tell, What pains He had to bear; But we believe it was for us, He hung and suffered there. He died that we might be forgiv’n, He died to make us good,That we might go at last to heav’n, Saved by His precious blood. There was no other good enough, To pay the price of sin.He only could unlock the gate, Of heav’n, and let us in. ~Cecil F. Alexander

The Lord Calls Us to Worship HimResponsive Call to Worship2 Psalm 46:1-4, 10, 11Pastor: God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, thoughthe mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling. There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy habitation of the Most High. “Be still, and know that I amGod. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”

People: The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.

Prayer of Adoration & Praise

Hymn of Praise

A Mighty Fortress is Our God LutherA mighty fortress is our God, a bulwark never failing;

Our helper He amid the flood of mortal ills prevailing.For still our ancient foe doth seek to work us woe;

His craft and pow’r are great; and armed with cruel hate,On earth is not his equal.

That Word above all earthly pow’rs, no thanks to them, abideth; The Spirit and the gifts are ours through Him who with us sideth.

Let goods and kindred go, this mortal life also;The body they may kill: God’s truth abideth still;

His kingdom is forever.

Reading of the Word Isaiah 50:4-9aThe Lord God has given me the tongue of those who are taught, that I may know how to sustain with a word him who isweary. Morning by morning he awakens; he awakens my ear to hear as those who are taught. The Lord God has openedmy ear, and I was not rebellious; I turned not backward. I gave my back to those who strike, and my cheeks to those whopull out the beard; I hid not my face from disgrace and spitting. But the Lord God helps me; therefore I have not beendisgraced; therefore I have set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be put to shame. He who vindicates me isnear. Who will contend with me? Let us stand up together. Who is my adversary? Let him come near to me. Behold, theLord God helps me; who will declare me guilty?

Call to Confession Isaiah 50:10-11Who among you fears the Lord and obeys the voice of his servant? Let him who walks in darkness and has no light trustin the name of the Lord and rely on his God. Behold, all you who kindle a fire, who equip yourselves with burning torches!Walk by the light of your fire, and by the torches that you have kindled! This you have from my hand: you shall lie downin torment.

2 We believe that God always initiates with sinners, so we begin worship with his invitation and command to us to gather in His name.2

The Lord Graciously Renews Us in ChristConfession of SinAlmighty Father, God of gods and Lord of lords, Father to the fatherless, Husband to the widow, Defender of thehelpless, Judge of all the earth, have mercy on us. We have not obeyed the voice of your Servant. We have not trustedyou to light our path. We have not sought freedom for the oppressed, even though you freed us. We have not boundup the broken even though you healed us. We have not forgiven others even though you forgave us. We withholdkindness from the needy even though you freely gave us your own Son. We are without excuse, but not withouthope. By your power and grace, account our sins to Jesus’ bloody death and amend our ways by the power of hisglorious resurrection. ...Silent & Personalized Confession of Sin... Amen!

Assurance of Pardon in Christ Psalm 103:8-12The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. He will not always chide, nor will hekeep his anger forever. He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities. For as highas the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west,so far does he remove our transgressions from us.

We offer all we are, we offer all we have,We offer all our lives for the glory of You.

Thank you for the price you paid.Bearing all my sin and shame, in love you came

And gave Amazing Grace.3

Page 5: DPC Bulletin - February 26, 2012

Thank you for this love, Lord.Thank you for the nail-pierced hands.

Wash me in Your cleansing flow, now all I know...Your forgiveness and embrace.

Worthy is the Lamb seated on the throne. We crown You now with many crowns You reign victorious!

High and lifted up Jesus, Son of God.Sent from Heaven, crucified…worthy is the Lamb.

Above All LeBlancAbove all powers, above all kings,

Above all nature and all created things;Above all wisdom and all the ways of man,

You were here before the world began.

Above all kingdoms, above all thrones,Above all wonders the world has ever known;Above all wealth and treasures of the earth,

There’s no way to measure what You’re worth.

Crucified, laid behind the stone; You lived to die, rejected and alone;Like a rose trampled on the ground,You took the fall, and thought of me,

Above all.

We Respond Who is This, So Weak and Helpless How

Who is this so weak and helpless, child of lowly Hebrew maid;Rudely in a stable shelter, coldly in a manger laid?

’Tis the Lord of all creation, who this wondrous path has trod;He is Lord from everlasting and to everlasting God.

Who is this? Behold him shedding drops of blood upon the ground.Who is this, despised, rejected, mocked, insulted, beaten, bound?

’Tis our God, who gifts and graces on His church is pouring down;Who shall smite in holy vengeance all his foes beneath His throne.

Who is this that hangs there dying while the rude world scoffs and scorns,Numbered with the malefactors, torn with nails, and crowned with thorns?

’Tis our God who lives forever mid the shining ones on high,In the glorious golden city, reigning everlastingly.

The Lord Meets Us at His TableThe Sacrament of the Lord’s SupperCommunion, also called The Lord’s Supper or Eucharist, is the family meal of Christians. We invite all committedfollowers of Jesus Christ to share in this sacrament: those who are baptized members of a congregation that proclaims thegospel, who are at peace with God and their neighbor, and who seek strength to live in a deeper communion with Jesus. If you are not a Christian, or you are not prepared to share in this meal, we encourage you to spend this time in prayer. We hope that this time is helpful to you as you consider your relationship with Jesus Christ and with his people, the Church.

Surrender CottrellNo more running, no more hiding.

No pretending I’m OK.No more struggling, no more fighting.

Come and have Your way.

I surrender, I bow down.I surrender, here and now.

I am captured, Yours forever.I surrender, I bow down.

You pursue me, You have found me.I fall helpless at Your feet.

Your possession, I am conquered.Love has set me free.

I come and worship, come and worshipWorship Christ, the new born king.

The Lord Blesses Us and Sends Us OutBenediction4 2 Corinthians 13:14The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

We Are the Body of Christ HamptonOne heart, one Spirit, one voice to praise You,

We are the body of Christ. One goal, one vision, to see You exalted,

We are the body of Christ. And to this we give our lives

To see You glorified.

One heart, one Spirit, one voice to praise You,We are the body of Christ. We are the body of Christ.

4 Just as God called us into His presence at the beginning, so now He commands His blessing upon us as we depart. We look up and extend our handsin a posture of thanksgiving as we receive this great gift. Our final response to God’s assurance of His peace and presence upon those who are in Christis a chorus of joyful song.
