    The purpose of the Rural Caucus is to help elect Democratic candidates in rural areas to public office and consequently to improve the representation of rural constituencies at all levels of government. Rural Retreat 2014 is a meeting/training event to bring rural Democrats from all over Virginia together and empower them with

  • the skills to effectively organize in their localities, run as a candidate, and manage a successful campaign. Executive Director of RuralVotes.org Deb Kozikowski will be directing the training sessions. Her reputation for excellence as a trainer has attracted Democrats from North Carolina, Ohio, West Virginia and Kentucky who will be joining us in Lynchburg! Rural Retreat 2014 is going to be a very big and very exciting event for rural Democrats! Training for Rural Retreat 2014 will be divided into three tracks; registrants must chose one. Grassroots/Party Leaders - This track focuses on creating a Democratic community, effectively utilizing available resources, and developing leadership skills. Candidate Track - This track is intended for Democrats considering running for office. It covers campaign planning and organization, analyzing demographics and voter information, and developing campaign tactics and fundraising strategies. Campaign Management - This track is intended for campaign staff and focuses on personnel management, understanding elections laws, demographic targeting and effectively promoting your candidate.Please download the Rural Retreat 2014 brochure for the Retreat schedule and a more detailed delineation of the training courses.   • How do I register? Select one of two methods for registration: Download the Rural Retreat 2014 brochure, complete the registration form and mail it with your check payable to "Rural Caucus DPVA" to Aviva Frye. The mailing address is on the registration form. Pay online at Rural Retreat 2014. Your online payment will serve as your registration.Your registration fee of $90 includes all course materials, all meals noted on the schedule, and the Saturday night Dessert Dance Party including a live band. Young Democrats may register for a discounted fee of $75.

  • Annual Rural Retreat Meeting On Sunday, July 13, 2014 at 12 noon, the Rural Caucus will hold its first annual Rural Retreat Meeting. Only Virginia participants may attend this meeting which will address the future direction of the Rural Caucus. The meeting will begin at the conclusion of all training activities. Details of the meeting agenda will be disclosed at a future date.
