APPENDIX II

The oil spill response atlas (sensitivity map) project, Al Dabbi'ya field, Abu Dhabi, UAE

Introduction:

The North East Bab (NEB) field comprises three major structures containing some of ADCO's largest oil reserves, namely, Al Dabbi'ya, Rumaitha and Shanayel, Abu Dhabi, UAE The Al Dabbi'ya field lies on a coastal/shallow marine area, while the Rumaitha/Shanayel structures lay onshore from the coastline South East of Abu Dhabi. Due to the nature of The Al Dabbi'ya field as a concession to ADCO of petroleum production and the importance of the region's biological diversity resulting from different type of shore line from region to another and the presence of petroleum activities of clusters, SPM and pipelines, it is necessary to produce the so-called maps of sensitive maps, and which may be patches of oil pollution from these activities, petroleum and primary goal of such maps is the speed of making the right decision and priority to combating oil pollution from the shore to another based on several factors identified through the coastal survey or shoreline geomorphology should address many parameters affecting on behavior of oil spill.
