Dr. Elizabeth WeltyWHEREAS, Elizabeth McNaughton Maine was born in Harrisburg, PA on March 18, 1915; and

WHEREAS, Elizabeth McNaugton Maine graduated from Cornell Medical College in 1941; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Elizabeth McNaugton Maine married Dr. Robert F. Welty in 1948; and

WHEREAS, Dr.s Robert and Elizabeth Welty moved to Spokane in 1949 and began their medical practice together serving citizens of the greater Spokane area; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Robert F. Welty passed on in 1989; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Elizabeth Welty retired from practicing medicine in 1985; and

WHEREAS, Dr.s Robert and Elizabeth Welty have given so much their time, talent and treasure to numerous Spokane area academic, arts, and other civic-minded organizations and programs for decades; and

WHEREAS, Dr.s Robert and Elizabeth Welty encourage citizens of the greater Spokane area to become involved in the advancement of academic, arts and other civic-minded organizations and programs;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Spokane City Council that we hereby salute and honor Dr. Elizabeth Welty for all of her contribution to the City of Spokane. Congratulations on your upcoming induction into the Spokane Citizen Hall of Fame, and a very special Happy 100th Birthday on March 18, 2015!
