WHEREAS, Elizabeth McNaughton Maine was born in Harrisburg, PA on March 18, 1915; andWHEREAS, Elizabeth McNaugton Maine graduated from Cornell Medical College in 1941; andWHEREAS, Dr. Elizabeth McNaugton Maine married Dr. Robert F. Welty in 1948; andWHEREAS, Dr.’s Robert and Elizabeth Welty moved to Spokane in 1949 and began their medical practice together serving citizens of the greater Spokane area; andWHEREAS, Dr. Robert F. Welty passed on in 1989; andWHEREAS, Dr. Elizabeth Welty retired from practicing medicine in 1985; andWHEREAS, Dr.’s Robert and Elizabeth Welty have given so much their time, talent and treasure to numerous Spokane area academic, arts, and other civic-minded organizations and programs for decades; andWHEREAS, Dr.’s Robert and Elizabeth Welty encourage citizens of the greater Spokane area to become involved in the advancement of academic, arts and other civic-minded organizations and programs; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Spokane City Council that we hereby salute and honor Dr. Elizabeth Welty for all of her contribution to the City of Spokane.
