INTRODUCTION

In response to the perceived demand for quality computer education at the undergraduate level, the department of the computer application has been established in Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel college, Bhabua , with a commitment to import computer application education at this center of learning ,It is useless to emphasize the importance of imparting high quality computer education ,As a specialized function directed towards creating a bread of professional experts is imperative in this area. The three year full time B.C.A Course (semester Wise),a professional course that is meant to be terminal course in itself ,seeks to turn enthusiastic and bright youngsters into competent software engineers well-quipped to handle the challenge of the real world. At present the college is going to offer a three years degree course of Bachelor of Computer Application under UGC. Job oriented self financing education programme.

ABOUT COLLEGE

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel College is a unique institution of higher education in Bihar. The College was established in 1957 and converted into a constituent unit of Bihar University in 1976. The college is situated in the heart of the Bhabua town in an area of 15 acress of land. It has a number of double storied buildings accommodating the faculties of science, Management, Social Science, Humanities and Computer Science. The college has earned unique destination in imparting education upto post graduate level in Science. Social Science, Computer Science and Humanities. The college is managed and maintained as per law under the authority of the government of Bihar and the Chancellor of the Universities of Bihar. It’s all departments including the Department of Computer Application are directly governed by the Veer Kunwar Singh University, Ara through its authority statutory bodies. Class Room and Conference Hall: The department of computer application wing of the college has adequate space for classroom accommodation. A well equipped big conference hall with capability to accommodate more than 100 people is available to meet the purpose of holding seminars, lecture and conferences. A big workshop exists adjacent to this department building for practical training purpose to the students, a very big gymnasium of the college.

Library: The central library of the college contains materials on economic, marketing, finance, personal management and organizational behavior. We are planning to form a separate library for the department well equipped with books, periodicals, research journals and magazines in the areas of management, computers & finance. A suitable amount for all these purpose has already been earmarked in the faculty development programme.

Computer Centre: The computer centre trains the student in the use of computer as a tool of working on information in the latest environment. The college has its own computer centre equipped with a variety of equipments which cater to the needs of the students. More so has been planned to add sophisticated and latest version of computer hardware and software facilities funded by the university grants commission. All this has been planned to cater to the needs of B.C.A. students as per the requirements of the course adopted under the Veer Kunwar Singh University, Ara.

OTHER FACILITIES

PROCTORIAL BOARD: Proctorial board of the college had been constituted to keep on the activities of students of the college to observe strict discipline on the campus

and outside and issue identity card to them for proper identification.

GYMNASIUM, ATHLETIC SOCIETY AND COMMON ROOM: Gymnasium, Athletic Society and Common Room facilities available in the college help both girls and boys in maintaining physical fitness as well football, Volley ball, basket ball, cricket, hockey and other respective incharge which enable the students to develop them into a balanced

personality.

WORK SHOP AND SEMINAR: There will be arrangement to grow up the knowledge of proper practical technique to the student and the teachers of the course from time to time. The work shop would be conducted by the experts invited from other institution or from our own pool. Some workshops will be held by students themselves to demonstrate there skill. Seminar and symposia will also be held to organize lecture by

the invited experts of the field.

GUEST FACULTY: In view of the content of proposed subject of the Bachelor of computer application (BCA) being different from other subjects generally available in the university and the colleges, much of the content of new subject will have to be thought by guest faculty experts. The service of such guest faculty will be suitably

remunerated.

CURRICULUM: Syllabus of job oriented programme will be given separately to the students who will get admission in B.C.A.

PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT: In addition to curriculum for study and training of student admitted to the course the department will also lay special stress on proper development of personality, so that they may be able to face the today’s world to stress and strain with almost courser and confidence. It is a part of the syllabus or a paper of the bachelor of computer application.

OPPORTUNITIES AND AVENUES:Job oriented programme or vocational course is basically meant to train students and equip them with required technique, so that they can get proper employment in software companies after passing out or they may be able to work as an entrepreneur successfully, Expertise in any one technique would normally be enough for absorption in such establishment. Employment opportunities are expected to increase manifold in future as bachelor of computer application (B.C.A.) is the faster developing science. Trained properly skilled individual may also work in association with other suitable skilled person or software engineers to develop

programmes or software.

DISCIPLINE AND REGULARITY: The first and for most quality expected form the students at department of computer application is discipline. Good manner and proper behavior are also to be instilled in student and they are expected to carry on there learning activities win standard behavior and inherent regards for teachers. Student of junior classes learn these things from seniors. If a student is found lacking in standardized norms he or she may be dropped from the course. Punctuality and regularity y are other features which we shall want from the students. Absence from

the classes without any genuine reasons will not be allowed.

RULES,REGULATION AND COURSE STRUCTURE FOR

BACHELOR OF COMPUTER APPLICATION(BCA) INTRODUCTION : GUIDELINES

1. The name of programme shall be (BCA) Bachelor of Computer Application Integrated. The course shall cover a period of three academic years and shall be divided into 6 semesters of six months each. First cycle will run from July to December and Second cycle will be from January to June per academic year. The final University examination shall be held in the month of December & June per academic year.

2. The BCA Integrated programme will be of full-time three years “Degree” course of computer applications. 3. Ordinarily, in each class, not more than 60 students will be admitted.

ELIGIBILITY: Admission to the 1st semester BCA course shall be open to the candidates who have passed 10+2 / Intermediate / Senior School certificate examination accepted as equivalent there to by the Academic council of V.K.S. University, Ara with Mathematics/ Business Mathematics / Statistics/ Physics / Computer Science/ Computer Application as one of the subjects of study. PATTERN OF WRITTEN TEST Written entrance test will consist of objective questions in Mathematics, General Knowledge, current affairs and Reasoning for 100 marks and of duration 2 hr. SELECTION PROCEDURE: The selection methodology shall comprise written entrance test and personal interview. Candidates fulfilling eligibility shall appear in the entrance test organized in the month of June in each academic year. The merit list shall be prepared by the admission committee of the college. The reservation policy for ST, SC and OBC shall be followed as per Govt. rulings.

Result will be displayed in accordance with the ranks of successful applicants on the notice board a department on the date as notified.

Final selection will be done after interviewing counseling of screened candidates in person. N.B.: Application form should be filled in properly and it should be accompanied with a pair candidate's passport size photograph, an attested photo copy of mark sheets, attested photo copy of the matriculation certificate as proof of age and caste and income certificate (in case of candidates claiming consideration for reserved seats of SC/ST and OBCs).

ENROLMENT: The successful candidates in the Common Admission Test will be enrolled in the BCA course strictly on the merit basis. A students enrolled in these courses are required continuing participation, fulfillment of attendance requirements, full payments of course fee and adherence to rules and regulations of the college and university. Any variation in the above matters without the proper approval of the college authorities may invite annulment of enrolment

REGISTRATION: The enrolled regular students of college will have to get registered with the Veer Kunwar Singh University, Ara on payment of requisite fee; however those who are already registered with the Veer Kunwar Singh University, Ara need not apply for it. The Candidates coming from other universities will have to submit migration certificate from the previous university and they will have to deposit emigration fee also. The students who are not registered with the Veer Kunwar Singh University, Ara will not be allowed to appear in the University examination.

LAST DATE: Application from must be submitted in the department of the computer application, S.V.P. College, Bhabua within the stipulated time.

ATTENDANCE POLICY: Regular attendance in all classes, seminars, Internal Assessment test & Term Work, Group – Discussion and any other academic curricular activities of the college is compulsory and a 100% attendance is desired. The students will have to fulfill the condition of 75% attendance; otherwise he / she will not be permitted to appear in any semester examination.

FEE STRUCTURE

Cost of prospectus an application forms are as follows:

(a) FROM CASH COUNTER: `300.00/- Only

(b) FROM DEMAND DRAFT: `350.00/- Only

SEMESTER'S FEE: The academic fee covers admission, tuition, library, computers, magazine, identity card, water, electricity, student activities and college development and student welfare.

B.C.A. (three year degree course with six semesters) per semesters `8000.00. In

addition to the above charges, candidates will have to fill in examination form, university registration, migration, etc. and deposit the requisite fee for the same as and when required. All such charges are to be paid in the form of bank draft and banker’s cheque issued by bank authorities, drawn in favour of the principal, S.V.P. College, Bhabua.

GROUP –A: Theory papers to be examined by university through examination conducted at the end of semester. GROUP – B: Practical & Continuous Sessional Work Papers to be evaluated internally, however during computer Lab. Test at least two external university examiners must be present. EXAMINATION

EXAMINATION: Students will have to appear at the University Examination at the end of Each Semester. The examination will be conducted by the Veer Kunwar Singh University, Ara.

1. The Semester examination for each theory papers (Group-A) will be for a duration of three hours. The maximum marks in each paper will be 100 and the minimum marks for a pass will be 40.

2. For passing in the semester aggregate of marks must be at least 45% in theory and practical groups separately.

3. For passing in each practical paper (Group-B) must be 45%.

AWARD OF CLASS: The class will be awarded on the basis of aggregate marks scored by the student i.e. out 4550. Provided he / she has passed in each individual entity of both Group-A and Group-B of BCA Semester I, II, III, IV, V & VI

· Distinction-75% and above

· First Class-60% and above

· Second Class-45% and above

MODUS OPERANDI OF CARRY-OVER PAPERS

· A candidate fail in maximum 4 papers of 1st semester will be promoted to 2nd semester.

· A candidate will be promoted from 2nd to 3rd semester even if he / she has not cleared maximum 4 papers of 1st and 2nd semester.

· Promotion from 3rd to 4th semester will be allowed only if candidate has cleared all papers of 1st semester & has not cleared maximum 4 papers of 2nd & 3rd semester.

· Promotion from 4th to 5th semester will be allowed if a candidate has cleared all papers of 1st and 2nd semester but has not cleared maximum 4 papers of 3rd and 4th semester.

· Promotion from 5th to 6th semester will be allowed only if a candidate has cleared all papers up to 5th semester.

· To pass the BCA course, students will have to clear all the semesters within 6 years from the date of admission. PATTERN OF QUESTIONS FOR THEORY PAPERS:

For each theory papers of 100 marks, 10 questions shall be given of 20 marks each, out of which candidate will have to answer 5 questions; one questions (preferably Q. No. -1) of 20 marks shall be of objective nature and shall be made compulsory. Written examination shall be of 3 hours duration.

AWARD OF DEGREE:

After successful completion of the three years (Six Semesters) BCA Course, appropriate under graduate Degree in BACHELOR OF COMPUTER APPLICATION will be conferred on the examined by the VEER KUNWAR SINGH UNIVERSITY, ARA. MEDIUM F INSTRUCTION:

The Medium of instruction will be English.

CLARIFICATION OF SYLLABUS:

It may be necessary to clarify certain points regarding the course. The syllabus committee, Academic Council shall meet at least once in a year to study and clarify and difficulties form the colleges.

REVISION OF SYLLABUS:

As the Computer Technology is changing very fast, revision of the syllabus should be considered every (3) three years.
