REPORT FROM THE SUPREME CONVENTION

Eight (8) Delegates from British Columbia and Yukon State Council represented the Knights of Columbus in the recently concluded 135th Supreme Convention held at St. Louis, Missouri August 1 to 3, 2017.

State Deputy Koon Ming Lau and his wife Lady Marianne were joined by the delegates and wives, as follows:

State Secretary Dale Hofer and wife Lady Dianne State Treasurer Edgardo Panes and wife Lady Maribeth State Advocate Marcel Renaud State Warden Herb Yang State IPSD Arcie Lim and wife Lady Matilde State Membership Director Dan O’Hara and wife Lady Joanne State Culture of Life Director (Past Grand Knight) Edgar Ursua and wife Lady Priscilla. State Chaplain Most Reverend Stephen Jensen and Bishop of Kamloops Most Reverend Joseph Nguyen joined the many bishops present in the Supreme Convention.

Jurisdiction of BC and Yukon sets its new records having

received the Supreme Knight’s Pinnacle Award under the leadership of Arcie Jose Lim, State Deputy 2015 – 2017. This award is first in the history of the BC and Yukon jurisdiction. It is the highest membership award in the Circle of Honour. IPSD Arcie Lim was also a recipient of the Jean Migneault Trophy leading the jurisdiction to the number one position in the entire Canada.

Other outstanding achievement of our Jurisdiction includes the Top Recruiter Order Wide given to Past Grand Knight Eduardo Valdez of Don Bosco Council 10277 Surrey having recruited 122 new members for his council. He was also a recipient of 10xStar Council Award Order Wide. He and his family were guests of Supreme Knight Carl A. Anderson at the Supreme Convention.

Also, guest of Supreme Knight is our very own Field Agent Brother Joe Ven der Buhs and wife Maureen. Brother Joe was awarded the 2nd Highest Insurance protection to the family in the Order.

PAST EVENTS

On September 3, 2017, all the KOFC councils in Richmond participated in the annual Joint Council Picnic. This year the event was hosted by Council 11916 (Canadian Martyrs) at King George Park. In total 68 Knights and family members attended the event, 25 from St. Monica, 22 from St. Paul, 13 from St Joseph the Worker and 8 from Canadian Martyrs.

Mark your calendars for the upcoming events from the Knights of Columbus: Dancercise Classes: September 15, 2017 (Friday) 8:00pm – 10:00pm at St Paul Parish Centre

Rooms 1 – 2. Free line-dancing lessons open to Knights and their immediate family only. Next classes are on October 6 (Gym) & 20 (Room 1-2), November 3 (Gym) & 17 (Room 1-2), 2017.

Pancake Breakfast September 17, 2017 (Sunday) 8.00am – 12:00pm at St Paul Parish Gym. Open

to all parishioners. (Set-Up: September 16, 2017 (Saturday) 11.00am - Tear down (Sunday) starts at 12 noon - volunteers needed. Next Pancake Breakfast October 15, 2017.

Monthly Executive Meeting: September 18, 2017 (Monday) 7:30pm – 8:30pm at St Paul Parish

Centre Room 5. Meeting for Council officers only. Filipino Fiesta: September 30, 2017 (Saturday) starts from 6:30pm. Tickets are $35.00. Hosted by

this council as fundraising of the new church building fund. KOFC Meeting Time Change (Survey): deadline to respond October 6, 2017.

Monthly General Meeting: October 9, 2017 (Monday) 7:00pm Rooms 1 – 2. All members are encouraged to attend.

Monthly Executive Meeting: October 16, 2017 (Monday) 7:00pm Rooms 5. Officers only. KOFC Open House & Awards Ceremony: October 21, 2017 (Saturday) starts from 11:30 am to

2:30pm at St Paul Parish Gym. Free and open to all Knights and their spouse. Interactive question and answer and feedback session with member Knights. Share your thoughts with the Council. Lunch will be served.

Krispy Kreme Fundraising: October 29, 2017 (Sunday) Distribution day. Sales collection starts 3

weeks ahead. Contact Raymond Wong 604 767 8660 to volunteer.
