WHAT IS. . .

DRAGON-LINE is DripNet PC™ dripline tubing manufactured by Netafim USA which is coextruded from high quality linear low density PE resin. It’s orange color makes it highly visible in the field. The pressure compensating emitters are welded to the internal wall of the dripline and fully operational at 6 psi. The continuous self-flushing feature cleans debris throughout the entire irrigation cycle. 10’ DRAGON Flex Hose attaches to the end of a rigid or flexible drop and/or a manifold, whichever method is considered best for the crop being irrigated. DRAGON-LINE emitter tubing with end plug is then attached to DRAGON flex hose with an insert coupling to drag completely on soil surface, thus the name “DRAGON-LINE”. As the DRAGON-LINE is pulled behind the system, the emitters deliver a uniform water pattern across the full length of the irrigated area. The water is applied directly to the soil surface significantly reducing evaporation and eliminating wind drift. This allows deeper percolation to the plant’s root zone. DripNet PC dripline has pressure compensating emitters every 6”. These driplines are spaced at 20”, 30”, 40”, 60” or 80” between lateral lines depending on the soil type and crop.

H O W I T W O R K S . . . DRAGON-LINE systems combine the high efficiency of surface drip irrigation technology with the economics of center pivot and lateral move irrigation systems. They are adaptable to both low and high

profile crops in any row spacing.TWO TYPES OF PLACEMENT

LOW LINE APPLICATION

HIGH LINE APPLICATION

WATERINLET

Low line system designed for short crop application. Unique DRAGON-LINE manifold attaches directly to supported 1/4” galvanized cable that is suspended 3-5’ above surface area. Low line benefits successful irrigation of crops such as potatoes, wheat, soybeans, onions, alfalfa, etc.

High line system designed for tall crop application. Unique DRAGON Flex Hose and DRAGON-LINE Emitter tubing attaches directly to the rigid or flexible drop for successful irrigation of taller crops such as corn, small grains, etc.

FILTRATION OPERATIONWater enters the filter through the inlet and reaches the screen (1) which traps the particles from the water. As more water flows through, debris builds up on the screen, a pressure differential builds up between the internal and external sections of the screen.

FLUSHING OPERATION (SCAN-KLEEN)

When the pressure differential reaches the determined value (7-10 psi), the filter should be cleaned. Water continues to flow through the filter during the cleaning process.• Opening the flushing valve (4) allows water to flow out

of the filter• Suction occurs through the nozzles (6) which vacuums

the debris from the screen (1) and out the drain port• Turning the handle (3) slowly rotates

the dirt collector (2) resulting in full scanning of the screen by the nozzles. Slower rotation cleans the screen more efficiently.

This combination of rotation and linear movement cleans the whole internal screen surface. The flushing cycle takes about 10 seconds.

APPLICATIONS• For separation of sand and other solid matter

from water with 90% or better efficiency• Protection of valves and irrigation systems

from damage/abrasion caused by sand and other solid matter

• Pre-filtering of water with high loads of sand before gravel, disc and screen filters 7

ADVANTAGESThe patented technology of PMDI combines the efficiency of surface drip irrigation with the flexibility and economics of center pivot and lateral move irrigation systems. While conventional water application packages are effiicient and provide many different options for distributing water, DRAGON-LINE technology provides increased system application efficiency through precision drip irrigation with the slow methodical release of water and nutrients directly to the soil area for optimal plant growth.

Are you faced with water restrictions and deficit irrigation? The DRAGON-LINE system is an ideal solution for growers to maintain yields even with lower water availability. Crops can be effectively irrigated even with very low gallons per minute wells. This technology provides accuracy of water management and greater efficiency than standard pivot nozzling. But best of all, it delivers the most even water pattern/application available. You’ll get all the efficiency of a subsurface drip system at a lower cost per acre versus a conventional center pivot system.Drip has proven, time and again, that it helps growers improve crop quality and yields. Water and nutrients are used more efficiently so input costs are reduced. This results in higher yields over a conventional center pivot system and a uniform, quality crop throughout the entire field.

minimal components, easy to install and maintain

Potential for 20-50% water savings compared to conventional water application packages

Significantly reduces evaporation and eliminates wind drift

Eliminates leaf burn, plant shock from sudden temperature changes and reduces the potential for plant diseases

Eliminates overwatering in beginning spans saving up to 10% of total water used to balance the system

Accuracy of watering for small (100-500 GPM) wells throughout the complete system

Reduces or eliminates wheel track issues

No ice accumulation on the structure during winter watering, reduces plugged nozzles, and frozen plugged drops

Increases soil moisture resulting in more water banked into the soil profile for use by the crop

SYSTEM DESIGNDragon-Line systems can be designed and supplied with a computer generated printout which among other features indicates:• The precise dripline placement• The required pressure• The flow and length of dripline that drags behind the

pivot (this can range in length from 2’ - 100’ or more)

SYSTEM MANAGEMENTA complete water analysis is recommended prior to implementation.Filtration and chemical treatment may be required to remove and neutralize contaminants from the irrigation water to prevent clogging.Maintenance and management dring harvest and tillage operations may differ from conventional pivot application methods.10
