1. 1. Conventions of the Drama Genre Realism Drama films deal with human emotions, playing on serious and tense events to create conflict. These events are realistic, as if they could happen to any of the audience. Journeys Drama films often involve a journey of some kind, be it literal or metaphorical. This can be a journey of character development which are often designed to effect the audience's emotions. Conflict is at the center of a drama, with a structure of multiple climaxes and anti- climaxes before the big one at the end which usually ends with a happy/resolved ending.
