DRAW UPSIDE DOWN Try having a go at this drawing upside down exercise. Remember you are not meant to recognize what the drawing is about. Do not look at the drawing right side up. The purpose of the upside down drawing exercise is to develop your ability to see only lines and shapes and their relation to each other. Just place your pencil on the paper and draw the lines you see.

HAVE A GO It’s your turn to have a go to DRAW IT. Here are some simple steps and illustrations on how to draw a hand. STEP 1 Start with a guide. Draw a circle and rectangular shape for the thumb and fingers like in sample 1 and 2.

STEP 2 Add details as in sample 3 and 4. You can rub out your guidelines as you go.

STEP 3 Now shade the hand to show tone like in sample 5 and the end result.
