Niruh basti lodged in the colon, by its potency, draws morbiddoshas from all over the body just as the sun situated in thesky absorbs all the moisture from the earth. And only morbidmatter gets eliminated by niruh basti from the body like as apiece of cloth soaked in the water mixed with the powder ofkusumbha(a vegetable dye ) sucks up only the pigments.
Anuvasan basti plays role just as a tree irrigated with waterat the root produces blue leaves, becomes beautiful withtender leaves and during the course of time grows to produceflowers and fruits. Similarly, a person becomes young andbeautiful with procreative power by the administration ofanuvasana.
-
Conclusion According to classics basti has a special effect on manovaha
strotas.
There are direct reference in classics regarding effect ofbasti chikitsa in manas vyadhi.
Both sharirik dosha vata ,pitta, kapha and manasik dosharaja, tama are responsible for manifestation of manovyadhi so by adopting basti chikitsa, sharirik andmanasik doshadusti can be treated effectively .
Thus Basti is potent in curing many of the diseases. Vipaka&
Prabhava of dravyas which we use for basti chikitsa, collectively
useful in improving the brain function, and memory.
-
In Ayurveda all cognitive functions are correlated to Dhi,
Dhrti and Smriti.
We can add several drugs in the basti, which are highly
effective in Manas vyadhi chikitsa.
This review is an attempt to highlight the role of Bastitherapy in the management of Manasvyadhi. This canbe further validated through clinical trials.
