ISSUE #1

PEOPLE, PLACES AND BIKES

“I tend to keep pictures on my computer forever and sometimes do nothing with them because I’m not a photo-grapher. So I decided that I should do something positive and creative with the photos that I have taken. The idea for this online photo zine came about completely at random. I have a DSLR now that I use to shoot video with and I used to have a DSLR that I carried in my camera bag. I would take random pictures here and there of the thingsthat were happening around me. Whether it be BMX related or something else I don’t mind getting a good photo. The photos that you see in this issue are not amazing by any means, they are simlpy snap shots of the moment and not all of them are by me, some are by friends that I ride with. The fact is I feel that putting them to use somehow is something that I need to do. I plan on keeping this photo zine going in the future with some help from other people that I know who also take photos.”

Pat Hageman with a long luc-e to 180 out at the prime time summer spot Wilson Skatepark. This clip is going to be in the next Drey Team video, so keep an eye out for it later this year.

This is one of the photos that Polish Pawel and me shot for the Drey Team wallpapers. It was super cold that day and we were surprised at how many people were at the bean.

This is what I stare at for 40 plus hours a week. I spend so much time at my desk that I’m scared of getting fat. My computer is my life right now.

Sometimes the outside world is not very appealing. Chicago winters are not for the faint of heart.

One of my favorite tricks at one of my least favorite places in Chicago.I could do these all day long. Photos by Lukas Satas.

I’m not super sure why I like this photo of Pat so much. I mean he’s trying to do a butcher down this steep ass ledge at Wilson but he’s not quite getting it fully because leaning forward on this thing is a

death sentence. I guess the composition of this one feels right to me. Don’t mind the trick.

The man, the myth, the legend. If you have ever met this dude then you know. I mean he has his own BMX crew... enough said.

Lukas Satas shot this one of me at the old warehouse in Kenosha, Wi. I just learned how to crank lookbacks that week so i had to get a photo of it.

One of many fun Waukegan street sessions with Dave Shumaker.Me and this kid would laugh more than we would ride sometimes.

Page 15: Drey Team Issue 1-People, Places and Bikes

Dave on home turf... literally. These ramps were in his attic and he shredded them like no other. Pretty sure they still exist.

Drey and I took a trip to Louisville, Ky a few years ago and had a blast. I shot this photo of Drey getting his roast on minutes before a little kid’s runaway

skateboard blasted him in the hand. Check the shoe and frame coordination.

Drey took this photo of me with his point and shoot camera while on our trip to California. This is the first time I rode the Home Ave. ditch and I loved it. The hip was super fun to blast and a great opportunity for a good photo.

Fakie tiregrab down or bunnyhop tiregrab up? OK, it’s a fakie tiregrab down. Bailey is a boss on a BMX bike who was ahead of the curve back in day. I wish he still rode all the time but he has a bike shop to run these days I guess. So stop by Comrade Cycles if you’re every in the Ukranian Village.
