The entire system is designed to facilitate controlfrom the driller’s position, to this end all stationsare hands-free including the Driller’s station.

The Driller position comprises of the followingATEX certified DX3+ apparatus:

■ 200 mm/600 mm long reach gooseneckmounted intrinsically safe EExi microphonefitted to DX3MC16 control membrane panel

■ Thigh/Knee/Foot EEx Switch to facilitatecommunication control type KNS01.

■ Driller “receive speech“ EEx Loudspeaker

DescriptionThe BARTEC VODEC DX3+1 Driller’s Intercomsystem has been speci f ical ly designed inconjunction with drilling operations to providereliable, simple two way voice communicationson board a drilling rig.

The system is primarily designed to enhancehealth and safety on board the rig.

It is developed to the same high standards ofsecurity as the BARTEC VODEC Public Addressand General Alarm (PAGA) System which is aprime life safety package.

The DX3+1 system comprises of a central panel,(which carries switching and amplification)Dri l ler ’s cabin master control , subscriberstation(s) and paging loudspeaker(s).

Subscriber Stations

Subscriber positions comprise of glass reinforcedmicrophone and loudspeaker unit with up tosixteen stations possible to connect to a singleDX3+1 switch.

■ VAP01-GO can be fitted where an extendedreach microphone is required.

■ Simple subscriber unit with microphone andsingle button.

■ For certain locations, e.g. shale shaker,an acoustic shelter aids intelligiblecommunications.

The DX3+1 Switch can support a Driller’s cabinfitted with dual chairs. In this instance two KNS01knee/thigh control switches and two mastercontrol access panels type DX3MC16 are installedto allow dedicated control to each chair.

DescriptionThe BARTEC VODEC DX3+1 is a driller’s talkbackintercom system designed to enable reliable safetycritical two way communication between a masterDriller’s position and strategic rig locations.

The DX3+1 system is managed and controlledfrom a DX3MC16 control panel which allows thedriller to conveniently establish communicationplans for hands-free operation.

The unit comprises of a robust low profileenclosure which carries a tactile membranekeyboard (which is fitted with large illuminatingsubscriber channel selector keys) and an extended“long reach“ gooseneck mounted noise cancellingmicrophone.

The DX3MC16 is ATEX certified for safe use in aZone 1 IIC potentially explosive atmospheres and

is rated intrinsically safe when used in con-junction with BARTEC VODEC central equipment.

The DX3MC16 is fitted with a BARTEC VODECVAP100a transceiver which provides modularplug in/out interface facilitating rapid service.

Connection between the control unit and the hostDX3+1 central rack is by a single cable pair whichcarries phantom DC power supply, data and statusindication control.
