Initial investment is largely in bus purchases, but construction generates economic activity of approximately $50 million Ongoing investment in operation and value of travel time savings provide long-term benefit >$13 million per year Distribution of annual benefits follows location of retail and services - However: Long term fiscal benefits depend on the (re)development of the Broad Street Corridor New/rehab residential development New/rehab commercial development Increased sales of existing business in the Corridor The implementation of BRT (and associated policies and improvements) could increase corridor-wide property values by $1-3 billion over the 20-year period (+/- 10% increase) This appreciation translates to a low-range estimate of average annual tax revenue equal to $4.6 million over 20 years ($4.3 in Richmond and $0.3 in Henrico)
