Welcome to the July Rally. Just one quick little reminder - Those competing from now onwards MUST have their new violet coloured membership cards. If you are riding at BEDS at Leighdale Pony Club this Saturday you must have paid your feeds for the 2014/15 financial year and you must have your new membership card fully completed including all your gradings with the appropriate signatures. At our Sunday rally, all outstanding membership fees must be paid in full BEFORE mounting. You will need to find Kurt Krause, our Treasurer, with your payment and your completed membership form. This form can be found on the DLPC website under the forms section. If you are not fully paid up you will not be able to ride on Sunday (or BEDS on Saturday). Your DC, Caroline

Book of the Month
How to speak horse Publisher: J.A. Allen Format: Hardcover Author: Andrea and Markus Eschbach Pages: 32 Price: $19.95 (AUD) including GST http://www.horsebooks.com.au/product/1151/76147/how-to-speak-horse-for-kids/ Easy lessons in ‘horse speak’ for pony-mad kids. This lovely book, chock full of beautiful colour photographs, explains the basics of horse body language and how to ‘talk back’. With a focus on groundwork that is safe and fun for children, it provides and introduction to natural horsemanship and shows how good communication can keep you safe in everything you do with your horse. • Shows you how horses use body language to communicate. • Provides an introduction to easy groundwork exercises you can do to learn to read your horse’s body language. • Shows you how you can use your own posture and movement to ask your horse to go forward, stop, turn, and follow. • Includes a ‘horse-speak’ dictionary of common horse body signals to help get you started. This book... • For 6-10 year olds • An introduction to natural horsemanship for children
Every child under 17 years must be accompanied at all times by a parent or nominated guardian at all pony club events. If parents cannot attend they must sign a form designating who will be the guardian on that day, and the guardian must also sign if in agreement. This is an important safety issue.
