Dear League Members,

One of my main goals this year was to provide different experiences for our members…from new events in interesting and unique environments, to being able to enjoy many different DSO musicians. This year started off with high energy felt all around...from fundraising to fellowshipping!

Our Clef Note Tea on February 13th featured DSO Principal Flautist, David Buck and his wife, Jung-Wan Kang, Flautist. This dynamic couple kept our attendees in awe of their talents! How often do we get to enjoy a flute duet from a husband

The President’s Message

and wife team?! This event was chaired by Sharon Ballew and Susan Fisk, and their creative vision made everyone extremely glad they attended.

Another unique opportunity awaits you….please join us for A Noteworthy Night, April 11th. We will have a trio of DSO French horns players providing a concert for us in a lovely private home. Guests will be able to stroll through art and history collections in this beautiful Dallas estate! The Honorary Chair is Doris Jacobs and this event is chaired by Elizabeth Rois-Mendez.

On April 3rd a wine tasting was held at Jimmy’s Food Store kicking off DSOL’s Savor the Symphony. Jimmy’s Food Store in Old East Dallas was the host for the League’s Wine & Cheese Tasting and Collection Party. The admission cost to the party was a bottle of wine to be used at a Cork Pull for the Second Annual Savor the Symphony gala which will be held on Thursday, May 3, at The Ritz-Carlton.

Savor the Symphony is an elegant evening with a three-course wine-paired dinner, silent and live auctions, and will be a VERY SPECIAL and UNIQUE EVENT with a private performance featuring the Dallas Symphony Orchestra’s Principal Pops Conductor and Grammy Award Winner, Jeff Tyzik, along with guest performers, Soprano Camille Zamora, a Bandomeon player and dancers from Tango Caliente. You will NOT want to miss this event!! Diane and Hal Brierley are the Honorary Chairs for Savor the Symphony. Kim Hext is the event chair.

The Enchanted Forest Luncheon on May 10th, chaired by Susan Sculllin and Vicki Petersen, promises to be exceptionally fun and creative! This will be the perfect celebration of a fabulous DSOL year!

Stay tuned for a follow up to finalize the year, but for now please continue to support our fundraising efforts so that we can finish strong and be able to donate the needed funds to the DSO!

I am extremely honored to represent the DSOL as President and would like thank all of our League members for their support!

We are actively seeking volunteers to help seat the school groups at the Cecil and Ida M. Green Youth Concerts, which are performed by the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. These concerts are part of the educational outreach done by the symphony. Over 30,000 students and teachers from the Dallas/Fort Worth area attend the DSO’s Youth Concerts each year! There is time between the first seating and the second seating to make new friends of the other volunteers and have a little snack. Also, volunteers are encouraged to stay and enjoy the music during the last performance after the students have been seated. There are two concerts on each date, one at 10:00 a.m. and a second one at 11:30 a.m. Each concert lasts about an hour. If you are interested in volunteering at one or more of the concerts, please email the DSOL Youth Concert Chair, Anne Ligon, at [email protected].
