Etislat DU Telecom
‘Etisalat’ was the only telecom service provider since 1976 in U.A.E.
‘Du’ stepped in the telecom market and started offering mobile and internet services across the country and in certain areas of Dubai in February.
Etisalat was losing its profits, revenues, number of customers and its quarterly net profits which ended on September 30th 2010 showed a reduction of 17 percent from AED 5.53 billion in 2010 compared to AED 6.69 billion in 2009.
Du gradually took over the telecom market from Etisalat and attracted many customers in less than 3 years.
Etisalat has about 60 percent of the mobile market with 10,000 new customers added in the third quarter
Du was able to attract 159,800 customers in the last quarter and now has a total mobile market of 40 percent.
