1 Introduction
With Connection Suite 2.10 Dualog AS introduce numerous new features and improvements from previous
version. This document describes important issues to take into consideration when upgrading and configuring,
where to find new features and changes to previous functionality. A short description of what is new and how
to use new features is also included.
Also the shore side of Connection Suite, https://Dualog.net is upgraded accordingly. This document does not
describe the new features available on https://Dualog.net.
2 Upgrading to Connection Suite 2.10
When installing on Windows 7 and server versions of Windows, it important that the installation is run when
logged in as local admin.
Please note that from 2.10 a new installation tool is now in use for installation of Connection Suite Standard
and DuaCore Pro. This does not influence the users experience. PortMapper and DHCP server is already using
the new installation tool.
2.1 Upgrading Connection Suite Standard
When upgrading to Connection Suite Standard to version 2.10, no special action is required during upgrade.
The installation program will shut down all services, upgrade databases and other sources, and start the new
services after upgrade.
All new configuration options will be downloaded on the first connects, so it is important to do several manual
connects after the installation is completed.
2.2 Upgrading DuaCore Pro
In version 2.10 there are new low-level drivers for DuaCore Pro. To avoid any problems, a uninstall of DuaCore
Pro is required before installing DuaCore Pro 2.10
Also, it is important that Connection Suite Standard 2.10 is installed BEFORE installing DuaCore Pro 2.10:
1. Upgrade to Connection Suite 2.10 Standard
2. Uninstall DuaCore Pro.
3. Reboot computer
4. Install DuaCore Pro
2.3 Upgrading PortMapper and DHCP server
No major changes are made to PortMapper and DHCP server in version 2.10. Upgrade is straight-forward, so no
special action is required.

3 New features in Connection Suite 2.10
Several new functions and Extensions have been added to Connection Suite 2.10. Some of which will be
automatically available in our standard package, others as Connection Suite Extensions.
3.1 New basic Functionality - overview
3.1.1 New WebMail
WebMail is now available from My page:

The new WebMail contain several new features, in addition to improvements from the old WebMail:

Save messages as drafts
Utilizes the new IMAP Server included in Connection Suite
Utilizes the new LDAP server included in Connection Suite
Improvements in handling/controlling messages in inbox
HTML or plain text editor
Drag-and-drop messages between folders
User interface resizable
3.1.2 LDAP Server
The LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) server makes the Connection Suite Address Book and list of
users available for external e-mail clients, as well as the new WebMail application in Connection Suite. For 2.10,
only read is implemented, so it is not possible to edit or add entries to the database. This will be available in a
later version of Connection Suite.
3.2 New and improved Extensions
Extensions are additional services to be added to the Connection Suite installation. Most Extensions are
supplied as separate installation programs. The following new extensions are available in Connection Suite 2.10
3.2.1 Web4Sea
Dualog Web4Sea is a new service developed to control and optimize web activities. It is recommended to run
Web4Sea together with DuaCore pro, to get an optimal setup for controlling IP traffic.
Web4Sea is a maritime Web proxy with additional features to control each user’s access to internet:
Access rights per communication system
Cache only access
Content filtering
Traffic shaping
3.2.2 AntiVirus
Dualog has not invented its own Antivirus system. Dualog Antivirus is using the ESET NOD32 antivirus client, by
integrating it into Connection Suite in terms of pattern distribution, installation and control of versions onboard
ships.
Installation of onboard software is described in separate documents. Please note that there is a separate
installation for server (where the Connection Suite installation resides) and client computers onboard the ship.
Pattern distribution is optimized to reduce cost, as files distributed are reduced to a minimum. No IP
connection is required to distribute patterns to ships, and can therefore be sent on any communication system.

When new updates are received onboard ships, an acknowledgement is returned to shore, giving
administrators the opportunity to monitor each ship installation on dualog.net. Distribution of patterns and
acknowledgements are displayed in the figure below:
3.2.3 DuaCore Pro
Based on feedback from our customers, several improvements are now available in DuaCore Pro. Also, several
critical bugs are now fixed. We urge every customer to upgrade to DuaCore Pro version 2.10 as soon as
possible. Main new features:
Compatible with Windows 7, Windows 2003 Server, Windows 2008 Server
Possible to set several destination addresses (IP addresses) per rule
Possible to add several IP ports per service
Bug fixes in handling of Least Cost Routing and communication failover.
3.3 Configuring new features
Some of the improvements made from previous versions require configuration changes before they are
available for users. It is important to note that these changes can be made on shore, and will be replicated to
ships when an upgrade is finalized. Please be aware that several connections are required before configuration
is synchronized and all updates are available on the ship.
When all updates are available, please do a logout-login in the Connection Suite user interface.

3.3.1 User group configuration
As new functions are available, User Group Function Access must be modified according to company policy. It is
important to notice that these settings must be changed on shore (dualog.net).
The following new functions are available:
Antivirus
Ship overview (dualog.net only)
Web4Sea
Web4Sea Company
Web4Sea Traffic
WebMail – various duplicates will appear in the list
Default configuration when new features are introduced is “No access”. For each user group, please make sure
that new features are made available for those user groups intended to see the new features.
3.3.2 Antivirus
All Antivirus configurations have to be done by Dualog AS. Please contact Dualog to subscribe to this service.

3.3.3 WebMail and e-mail configuration
With the introduction of new WebMail and IMAP Server, configuration of e-mail has changed radically from
previous versions. New options are available, but most importantly, more configuration options must be set
per user group. The net result is that user group access together with ships configuration sets what e-mail
system a user have access to.
When upgrading, most re-configuring for the new platform is automatically performed by the installation
program. However it is advised to check that all configurations are according to requirements:
3.3.3.1 User group access
In 2.10 there are three different ways of handling received e-mail:
POP3
For use with external standalone e-mail clients
SMTP Relay
Relaying to 3rd
party mail servers like Microsoft Exchange or Lotus Domino Server onboard the ships
IMAP4
Currently only available for WebMail. Must be ticked for all Webmail users (groups)
The most common configuration is shown in the screen below.

3.3.3.2 E-mail configuration
For each ship, available e-mail systems must be set. The available options are equal to those set per User Group
(section 3.3.3.1). In the list each User Group’s access to e-mail services can then be configured. Available
options will be set depending on ships availability and User Group access. In a normal situation no
configuration is required –as available options will be enabled.
The following configuration must be set, depending on E-mail systems selected:
POP3:
When using external e-mail clients like Outlook, Outlook Express, Windows Mail or Thunderbird
Hostname (IP address of computer running Connection Suite)
SMTP port, normally 25
POP3 port, normally 110
Optional: LDAP port, only if Connection Suite Address Book & User list should be available from e-mail
client
IMAP4:
Currently this option is only available when using the Connection Suite WebMail client. In future releases it can
also be configured for use with external e-mail clients supporting IMAP4.

3.3.4 LDAP Server
The configuration of the LDAP Server is quite straightforward, see picture:
For external e-mail clients, make sure that port number is set up according to value in Connection Suite, and
that IP address is the address to the computer running the LDAP server.
For configuration of an external e-mail client, please refer to its User Manual. WebMail is automatically
configured to use the LDAP server.
