Career Fair at Holthus Convention Center On March 25th, students from York and several other area high schools will have the opportunity to participate in the York County Development Corporation (YCDC) Regional Career Fair at the Holthus Convention Center. This is a great event for many students and is made possible by YCDC.

While at the Career Far students will be able to –

Participate in three different panel sessions that are focused on different career clusters. Listen to a guest speaker, talk about making life/career decisions that students are passionate about. Have the opportunity to win a $1,000 scholarship. Visit many job fair booths for possible current or future employment

Approximately 170 students will be attending, representing eight area schools. 10 different businesses will be represented.

We are proud of the partnership that York High School has with the York County Development Corporation. The YCDC’s mission is to promote and encourage quality growth in York County. Together, our mission is to show YHS students that York is a great place to live. We want to show our students the opportunities they might have if they choose to live in York County.

For example, when we administer the test there is to be no interruptions, no bells, no school announcements, and no passing periods. YHS Seniors will participate in our first Real World Boot Camp. FROM THE ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL/ACTIVITIES DIRECTOR’S OFFICE -- The month of March marks the beginning of the spring activity season. The spring is a busy time of year for activities and end of the year events. Here are a few reminders:

1. Do not rely totally on the printed calendars - Things happen throughout the year that cause us to change dates and times of events. More often than not in the spring, it’s the weather causing a cancellation or postponement. The best resource is the online calendar at central conference.org

2. Follow us on social media - Schedule changes and announcements are always posted to social

media. Follow on Twitter (@YorkDukesAD) and Facebook (York Public Schools). 3. Plan ahead with activity conflicts - Students that participate in multiple activities may find that

they have conflicts between events on the same day. As much as we try to catch those early, we rely on students and parents to communicate and plan accordingly. We do not have a policy regarding which events take priority. Those are handled on a case by case basis.
