Achromatopsia What does it mean for Dulcie?

» Colour blindness – I can see red most of the time.

» Low vision.» Extremely light sensitive

(photophobic).» Visual fatigue.» Cannot see balls coming unless

very bright red or orange.

In the human eye there are rods and cones that have different jobs

Rods

» See in black, white and shades of grey.» Tell us the shape that something has.» They detect movement first.» They are super-sensitive, allowing us to

see when it’s very dark.

Cones

» Work best in bright daylight.» They allow people to see colours and fine detail.» Cones are divided into three different types – red, green

and blue to help you see different ranges of colour.» Together these cones sense combinations of light waves

that enable our eyes to see millions of colours.
