New Programs at Dunbar Community Centre

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

New Programming Season Extends to Four MonthsAs you look through this program guide to see what’s on offer this season, you will notice that the season extends through the end of April, which is one month longer than in previous years.

Like many other centres, we are changing from four to three seasons of programming throughout the year. Each program guide will now cover four months, instead of the three. There’s still the same number of great programs, with both new choices and our many returning favourites on offer.

Our next guide in the spring will cover May through August, and the fall guide will cover September through December. This reduces registration from four to three times a year, and with one less program guide to publish, our Programmers will have more time to focus on programming and our production and distribution costs are reduced.

I am pleased to advise that at the Special General Meeting held on September 27, 2017 members of the Dunbar Community Centre Association approved the acceptance and signing of the new Joint Operating Agreement offered by Parks Board. The new agreement is effective January 1, and further information about changes that may arise as a result of the new agreement will be shared with our members as the board and staff begin to work with the new agreement.

As this is the busy winter season I’d like to remind you that there are a number of special events to mark on your calendars. The Craft Fair will be on Saturday, November 25. The Christmas Tree Lighting is on Wednesday, December 6 and Breakfast with Santa is on Saturday, December 9. Please come and join us for these fun, seasonal events.

Gerry Massingpresident, dunbar community centre association

In addition to our popular existing programs, please look out for the “ new ” symbol beside all of the new programs being offered this Winter at Dunbar Community Centre.
