Die Durchfhrungsbestimmungen zur Prfung Goethe-Zertifikat A2: Start Deutsch 2 sind Bestandteil der Pr-fungsordnung des Goethe-Instituts in ihrer jeweils ak-tuellen Fassung.

Die Prfung Start Deutsch 2 wird vom Goethe-Institutgetragen. Sie wird an den in 2 der Prfungsordnunggenannten Prfungszentren weltweit nach einheitlichenKriterien durch gefhrt und ausgewertet.

Die Prfung dokumentiert die zweite Stufe A2 derim Gemeinsamen europischen Referenzrahmen frSprachen (GER) beschriebenen sechsstufigen Kompe-tenzskala und damit die Fhigkeit zur elementarenSprachverwendung.

1 Prfungsbeschreibung

1.1 Bestandteile der Prfung

Die Prfung Start Deutsch 2 besteht aus folgenden obligatorischen Teilprfungen:

schriftliche Gruppenprfung,mndliche Paarprfung.

1.2 Prfungsmaterialien

The Terms and Conditions for Exam Administrationconcerning the exam Goethe-Zertifikat A2: StartDeutsch 2 are an integral part of the most up to dateversion of Goethe-Instituts Exam Guidelines.

The Start Deutsch 2 exam is produced by the Goethe-Institut and, per Section 2 of the Exam Guidelines, isadministered and assessed according to uniform criteriaat exam centers worldwide.

This exam correlates with the second level A2 onthe six-level competency scale described in the Com-mon European Framework of Reference for Languages(CEFR) and demonstrates ones ability to use languageon an elementary level.

Section 1 Description of the Exam

Section 1.1 Parts of the Exam

The Start Deutsch 2 exam consists of the followingcompulsory parts:

Written exam to be taken in groups,Oral exam to be taken in groups.

The exam materials consist of the exam documents forparticipants, which include the answer sheets, theexam documents for examiners, including the formsfor recording the score, and a medium for storingaudio:

The exam documents for participants contain the tasks and exercises for the exam participant: Tasks for the listening comprehension section of

the exam (Parts 1 3); Texts and exercises for the reading section of the

exam (Parts 1 3); Texts and exercises for the writing section of the

exam (Parts 1 and 2); Exercises and storyline cards for the oral exam

(Parts 1 3).

On the answer sheets, the exam participant recordshis/her answers and textual responses.

The exam documents for examiners contain the following: The answers; Transcribed versions of the listening comprehen

sion texts; The directions for evaluating the written portions

of the exam; The directions for administering and evaluating

the oral exam; Transparencies with answers for grading the

listening comprehension, reading and writingsections respectively (Part 1).

On the forms for recording the score supplied to examiner, he/she documents the performance of theexam participant.

The audio storage mediums contain the texts for thelistening comprehension section as well as all directionsand other useful information.

1.3 Prfungsstze

Die Materialien zu den schriftlichen Prfungsteilen sindjeweils in Prfungsstzen zusammengefasst. Die Mate-rialien zum mndlichen Prfungsteil knnen unterei-nander und mit den schriftlichen Prfungsstzen belie-big kombiniert werden.

1.4 Zeitliche Organisation

Die schriftliche Prfung findet in der Regel vor dermndlichen statt. Falls schriftliche und mndliche Prfung nicht am selben Tag stattfinden, liegen zwischen schriftlicher und mndlicher Prfung maximal 14 Tage.

Die schriftliche Prfung dauert ohne Pausen insgesamt70 Minuten:

Die mndliche Prfung wird als Paarprfung durch -gefhrt und dauert 15 Minuten. Es gibt keine Vorbereitungszeit.

Fr Prfungsteilnehmende mit spezifischem Bedarfknnen die angegebenen Zeiten verlngert werden. Ein-zelheiten sind in den Ergnzungen zu den Durchfh-rungsbestimmungen: Prfungsteilnehmende mit spezi-fischem Bedarf geregelt.

Section 1.3 The Exam Booklets

The materials for the written portion of the exam havebeen bound together into an exam booklet. The materi-als for the oral exam may be combined with one anoth-er or with the written exam booklets as desired.

Section 1.4 Time Organization

The written exam usually precedes the oral exam. Inthe event the written and oral exams are not adminis-tered on the same day, the missing component must becompleted within 14 days.

The written exam as a whole takes 70 minutes withoutany breaks:

1.5 Protokoll ber die Durchfhrung der Prfung

ber die Durchfhrung der Prfung wird ein Protokollgefhrt, das besondere Vorkommnisse whrend derPrfung festhlt und mit den Prfungsergebnissen archiviert wird.

2 Die schriftliche Prfung

Fr die schriftliche Prfung wird folgende Reihenfolgeempfohlen: Hren Lesen Schreiben. Aus organisatorischen Grnden kann die Reihenfolge derPrfungsteile von den Prfungszentren gendert werden.

Zwischen den Prfungsteilen ist keine Pause vorgesehen.

2.1 Vorbereitung

Vor dem Prfungstermin bereitet der/die Prfungsver-antwortliche unter Beachtung der Geheimhaltung diePrfungsmaterialien vor. Dazu gehrt auch eine nochmalige inhaltliche berprfung.

2.2 Ablauf

Vor Beginn der Prfung weisen sich alle Teilnehmendenaus. Der/Die Aufsichtfhrende gibt danach alle not -wendigen organisatorischen Hinweise.

Vor Beginn der jeweiligen Prfungsteile werden die entsprechenden Kandidatenbltter und Antwortbgenausgegeben. Die Teilnehmenden tragen alle erforder -lichen Daten auf die Antwortbgen ein; erst dann beginnt die eigentliche Prfungszeit.

Section 1.5 Report on the Administration of the Exam

A Report on the Administration of the Exam is to bedrafted. This report shall take note of any significantevents that occurred during the administration of theexam and will ultimately be archived with the results of the exam.

Section 2 The Written Exam

It is recommended that the written exam be adminis-tered in the following order: listening comprehension reading writing. The order in which these three sec-tions are administered to exam participants may, how-ever, be changed by the exam centers for organizationalpurposes as necessary.

During the individual exam sections, no break is provid-ed.

Section 2.1 Preparation

Prior to administering the exam, the exam official mustprepare the exam materials while making special provi-sions for the confidential nature of the materials.He/she must also check the contents of the materialsand verify their completeness and accuracy.

Section 2.2 Procedure

Before starting the exam, all participants must provideproof of their identities. The supervisor will then giveall the necessary organizational instructions.

Before beginning each section of the exam, the respec-tive exam documents for participants and answersheets are distributed to the participants. Participantsrecord all the required personal information on the answer sheets. Once this is completed the supervisorwill begin the timed section of the exam.

Fr die schriftliche Prfung gilt folgender Ablauf:

1. Die Prfung beginnt in der Regel mit dem Prfungsteil Hren. Der Tontrger wird von dem/der Aufsichtfhrenden gestartet. Die Teilnehmenden markieren bzw. schreiben ihre Lsungen zunchst auf den Kandidatenbltternund bertragen sie am Ende auf den Antwortbogen. Fr das bertragen ihrer Lsungen stehen den Teil nehmenden ca. 5 Minuten innerhalb der Prfungszeit zur Verfgung.

2. Anschlieend bearbeiten die Teilnehmenden diePrfungsteile Lesen und Schreiben in der von denTeilnehmenden gewnschten Reihenfolge. Die Teilnehmenden markieren bzw. schreiben ihre Lsungen zunchst auf den Kandidatenbltternund bertragen sie am Ende auf den Antwortbogen. Fr das bertragen ihrer Lsungen planen die Teilnehmenden ca. 5 Minuten innerhalb der Prfungszeit ein.

3. Den Text zum Prfungsteil Schreiben (Teil 2) ver-fassen die Teilnehmenden im Regelfall direkt aufdem Antwortbogen.

No additional comments are to be provided while theexam documents for participants for any portion of theexam are being distributed to the participants. Direc-tions for all tasks and exercises can be found in theexam documents for participants. At the conclusion ofthe exam section, all documents will be collected. Thesupervisor will notify the participants of the beginningand end of the exam time in a suitable manner.

The following procedure is to be adhered to with respectto the written exams:

1. Typically the exam begins with the listening com-prehension section. The audio storage medium isplayed by the supervisor. The participants initiallymark or write their answers on the exam documentsfor participants and transfer them at the end ontotheir answer sheets. Approximately five minutes ofthe participants exam time have been provided tocomplete this task.

2. Once the participants complete this section, theygo on to the reading and writing sections. Partici-pants are free to determine the order in which theycomplete these two sections. Initially, the partici-pants mark or write their answers directly onto theexam documents for participants and transfer themat the end onto their answer sheets. Participantsmust allocate approximately five minutes of the allot-ted exam time to transfer their answers.

3. The participants typically draft the text for writingsection (Part 2) of the exam directly on the answersheet.

3 Die mndliche Prfung

Die Teile 1, 2 und 3 der mndlichen Prfung dauern je-weils ca. 5 Minuten.

3.1 Organisation

Fr die Prfung steht ein geeigneter Raum zur Verfgung. Tisch- und Sitzordnung werden so gewhlt,dass eine freundliche Prfungsatmosphre entsteht.

Wie in der schriftlichen Prfung muss die Identitt derTeilnehmenden vor Beginn der mndlichen Prfung,gegebenenfalls auch whrend der mndlichen Prfung,zweifelsfrei festgestellt werden.

3.2 Vorbereitung

Es gibt keine Vorbereitungszeit. Die Teilnehmenden erhalten die Aufgabenstellung direkt in der Prfung.

3.3 Ablauf

Die mndliche Prfung wird von zwei Prfendendurchgefhrt. Eine/r der Prfenden bernimmt die Moderation der mndlichen Prfung.

Fr die mndliche Prfung gilt folgender Ablauf:

Zu Beginn begren die Prfenden die Teilnehmendenund stellen sich selbst kurz vor. Die Prfenden erlutern vor Beginn jedes Teiles die Aufgabenstellungund verdeutlichen diese anhand eines Beispiels. Auerdem entscheiden sie, welche/r Teilnehmende beginnt.

Section 3 The Oral Exam

Parts 1, 2 and 3 of the oral exam each take ca. five minutes.

Section 3.1 Organization

A room is chosen for the exam, which meets all theneeds of the participants. A seating plan will also be devised that creates a pleasant atmosphere in which totake the exam.

As with the written exam, the identity of the partici-pants must be confirmed before the oral exam begins also during the exam if necessary.

Section 3.2 Preparation

No time is given to prepare. The participants receivethe tasks and topics with their exam materials as it isbeing administered.

Section 3.3 Procedure

The oral exam is administered by two examiners. One examiner will take over the role of moderator.

The following procedure is to be adhered to with respectto the oral exam:

First, the examiners greet the participants and brieflyintroduce themselves. Before starting the oral exam,the examiners go over every section and task anddemonstrate them using examples. In addition, they decide which participant starts.

1. In Teil 1 stellen sich die Teilnehmenden nachei-nander anhand der Stichworte auf den Kandidaten-blttern vor und beantworten mindestens zwei Fragen der Prfenden.

2. In Teil 2 sprechen die Teilnehmenden miteinan-der; sie formulieren Fragen und reagieren darauf.

3. In Teil 3 handeln die Teilnehmenden etwas aus,indem sie Fragen stellen, Vorschlge machen und aufdiese reagieren.

Am Ende der Prfung werden alle Unterlagen eingesam-melt.

4 Bewertung schriftliche Prfung

Die Bewertung der schriftlichen Prfungsteile findet imPrfungszentrum oder in ausge wiesenen Dienstrumenstatt. Die Bewertung erfolgt durch zwei Bewertende.Die Ergebnisse aus der schriftlichen Prfung werdennicht an die Prfenden der mndlichen Prfung weiter-gegeben.

4.1 Hren

Im Prfungsteil Hren sind maximal 15 Punkte erreich-bar. Es werden nur die vorgesehenen Punktwerte verge-ben, pro Lsung 1 Punkt oder 0 Punkte. Zur Berech-nung des Ergebnisses werden die vergebenen Punkte addiert. Dieerzielten Punkte werden in den Antwortbogen eingetra-gen, der von beiden Bewertenden gezeichnet wird.

1. In Part 1, the participants introduce themselvesusing the keywords provided in the exam documentsfor participants and answer at least two of the exam-iners questions.

2. In Part 2, the participants speak to one another;they compose questions and respond to one anoth-ers questions.

3. In Part 3, the participants negotiate something,asking questions, making suggestions and reactingappropriately.

At the conclusion of the exam, all documents will becollected.

Section 4 Evaluation of the Written Exam

The evaluation of the written exam takes place in theexam center or at qualified offices. Exams are evaluatedby two graders. The scores on the written exam are notgiven to the examiners who administer the oral exam.

Section 4.1 Listening Comprehension Section

In the listening comprehension section, a maximum of15 points can be reached. Only the point values desig-nated are awarded that is to say, for each questionone point or no points at all. To calculate the score, allthe received points are added together. The pointamount is then recorded on the answer sheet, which issigned by both graders.

4.2 Lesen

Im Prfungsteil Lesen sind maximal 15 Punkte erreich-bar. Es werden nur die vorgesehenen Punktwerte ver geben, pro Lsung 1 Punkt oder 0 Punkte. Zur Berechnung des Ergebnisses werden die vergebenenPunkte addiert. Die erzielten Punkte werden in denAntwortbogen eingetragen, der von beiden Bewerten-den gezeichnet wird.

4.3 Schreiben

Zur Berechnung des Ergebnisses werden die in Teil 1und 2 erzielten Punkte addiert. Halbe Punkte werdennicht aufgerundet. Die Bewertung wird auf dem Antwortbogen eingetragen und von beiden Bewerten-den namentlich und mit Unterschrift gezeichnet.

4.3.1 Schreiben, Teil 1

In Teil 1 sind maximal 5 Punkte erreichbar. Es werdennur die vorgegebenen Punktwerte vergeben, pro Lsung 1 Punkt oder 0 Punkte.

Zur Berechnung des Ergebnisses von Teil 1 werden dievergebenen Punkte addiert. Die Bewertungen werdenauf dem Antwortbogen eingetragen.

4.3.2 Schreiben, Teil 2

Teil 2 wird von zwei Bewertenden getrennt bewertet,nach festgelegten Bewertungskriterien (s. bungssatz,Teil Prferbltter). Es werden nur die vorgegebenenPunktwerte fr jedes der Kriterien vergeben; Zwischen-werte sind nicht zulssig.

Section 4.2 Reading Section

In the reading section, a maximum of 15 points can bereached. Only the designated point values are awarded that is to say, for each question one point or no pointsat all. To calculate the score, the points received areadded together. The point amount is then recorded onthe answer sheet, which is signed by both graders.

Section 4.3 Writing Section

To calculate the score on this portion of the exam, thepoints awarded in sections one and two are added to-gether. Half points will not be rounded off to the near-est point. The results are recorded on the answer sheet,on which both graders sign and print their names.

Section 4.3.1 Writing Section, Part 1

In Part 1, five points are possible. Only the designatedpoint values are awarded that is to say, for each ques-tion one point or no points at all.

To calculate the score on Part 1, the points received areadded together. The point score is then recorded on theanswer sheet.

Section 4.3.2 Writing Section, Part 2

Part 2 is evaluated by two graders independently usingestablished grading criteria (see Sample Exam Booklet,Section Documents for Examiners). For each of the criteria, only the designated point values are awarded;partial credit is not awarded.

In Teil 2 sind maximal 10 Punkte erreichbar. Bewertetwird die Reinschrift auf dem Antwortbogen.

Bei Abweichungen zwischen Erst- und Zweitbewertungeinigen sich die Bewertenden bei jedem Kriterium aufeinen Punktwert. Kommt keine Einigung zustande, entscheidet der/die Prfungsverantwortliche. Er/Siekann vor seiner/ihrer Entscheidung eine Drittbewer-tung veranlassen.

Zur Berechnung des Ergebnisses von Teil 2 werden dievergebenen Punkte addiert. Die erzielten Punkte wer-den auf dem Antwortbogen eingetragen, der von beidenBewertenden namentlich und mit Unterschrift gezeich-net wird.

5 Bewertung mndliche Prfung

Die Teile 1 bis 3 zur mndlichen Produktion werdenvon zwei Prfenden getrennt bewertet. Die Bewertungerfolgt nach festgelegten Bewertungskriterien (s. bungssatz, Teil Prferbltter). Es werden nur dieauf dem Formblatt Ergebnis Sprechen vorgesehenenPunktwerte vergeben; Zwischenwerte sind nicht zulssig.

In der mndlichen Prfung sind maximal 15 Punkte erreichbar, davon 3 Punkte in Teil 1 sowie jeweils 6Punkte in Teil 2 und 3.

Im Bewertungsgesprch unmittelbar nach der Prfungtragen die Prfenden ihre Bewer tungen zusammen undeinigen sich auf gemeinsame Punktwerte. Kommt keineEinigung zustande, entscheidet der/die Prfungsverant-wortliche.

In Part 2, a maximum of ten points is attainable. Onlythe final draft on the answer sheet will be evaluated.

If there is a discrepancy between the first and secondassessment, graders have to compromise on the pointsawarded for each grading criterion. Should such a com-promise not be possible, the exam official shall have thefinal say. Before making a decision, he/she can arrangefor a third evaluation.

To calculate the score on Part 2, the points received areadded together. The results are recorded on the answersheet, on which both graders sign and print theirnames.

Section 5 Evaluating the Oral Exam

Parts 1 3 of the oral exam are assessed independentlyby two examiners. The assessment takes place using established grading criteria (see Sample Exam Booklet,Section Examiner Documents). For each of the criteria,only the point values designated on the form OralExam Score are awarded. Partial credit is not awarded.

A maximum of 15 points is possible on the oral exam three points for Part 1 and six points each for Parts 2and 3.

In a meeting directly following the oral exam, the examiners discuss their assessments and mutually agreeon a score. Should such an agreement not be reached,the exam official shall have the final word.

6 Gesamtergebnis

Die Ergebnisse der einzelnen schriftlichen Prfungsteileund das Ergebnis der mndlichen Prfung werden auch bei nicht bestandener Prfung auf das FormblattGesamtergebnis bertragen. Das Formblatt Gesamter-gebnis wird von zwei Prfenden unterschrieben.

6.1 Ermittlung der Gesamtpunktzahl

Zur Ermittlung der Gesamtpunktzahl werden die in deneinzelnen Prfungsteilen erzielten Punkte mit dem Faktor 1,66 multipliziert und anschlieend addiert. DasGesamtergebnis wird auf volle Punkte gerundet.

6.2 Punkte und Prdikate

Die Prfungsleistungen werden in Form von Punktenund Prdikaten dokumentiert. Es gelten folgende Punk-te und Prdikate fr die Gesamtprfung:

Section 6 The Overall Score

The scores on the written exam sections and the resultsof the oral exam are conveyed even on exams that donot meet the criteria to pass on the form OverallScore. This form is signed by two examiners.

Section 6.1 Calculation of the Overall Point Score

To calculate the overall point score, the points availablein the individual exam sections are multiplied by 1.66and subsequently added together. The overall result isrounded to the nearest whole point.

Section 6.2 Points and Ratings

Exam performance is reflected in the form of pointsand ratings. The following points and ratings pertain tothe exam as a whole:

6.3 Bestehen der Prfung

Maximal knnen 100 Punkte erreicht werden, 75Punkte im schriftlichen Teil und 25 Punkte im mnd lichen Teil. Die Prfung ist bestanden, wenn mindestens 60 Punkte (60 % der Maximalpunktzahl) erreicht und alle Prfungsteile abgelegt wurden.

Wenn ein/e Teilnehmende/r im schriftlichen Teil weniger als 35 Punkte erzielt, ist eine Teilnahme an der mndlichen Prfung nicht sinnvoll, da die zum Bestehen notwendige Mindestpunktzahl von 60 Punkten auch bei voller Punktzahl in der mndlichenPrfung nicht mehr erreichbar ist.

7 Wiederholung der Prfung

Es gilt 16 der Prfungsordnung. Die Prfung kannnur als Ganzes wiederholt werden.

8 Schlussbestimmungen

Diese Durchfhrungsbestimmungen treten am 1. Februar 2010 in Kraft und gelten erstmals fr Prfungsteilnehmende, deren Prfung nach dem 1. Februar 2010 stattfindet.

Im Falle von sprachlichen Unstimmigkeiten zwischenden einzelnen Sprachversionen der Durchfhrungs -bestimmungen ist die deutsche Fassung mageblich.

Section 6.3 Passing the Exam

A maximum of 100 points can be reached, 75 points inthe written exam and 25 points on the oral exam. Theexam is considered passed when at least 60 points (60 % of the maximum points available) have been re-ceived and all parts of the exam have been completed.

If a participant receives less than 35 points on the written section, attempting the oral exam is not logicalas the minimum points needed to pass exam (60 points)can no longer be reached even if the participantachieves a perfect score on the oral exam.

Section 7 Repetition of the Exam

Section 16 of the Exam Guidelines applies. The exammay only be repeated as a whole.

Section 8 Final Provisions

Should linguistic discrepancies arise in the individual,translated versions of Terms and Conditions for ExamAdministration, the German language version takesprecedence.
